Pistol Pete, Two twelve minute flights out of one stock tank on a Radikal 20??

If this is the case I am going to love mine. I thought the Rad tank was kind of small and was hoping to get 12-15 minutes out of a full tank before having to land.

I am off work tue wed and thursday I hope to get my head and tail built. I also hope to get my engine ordered if my wallet is up for it.

I can get easy 18 minute flights on a stock engine..but only running the head to about 1750 with 14T pinion and just light sport.

With a modded engine I can get a max 12 minutes, running 640s at 2000 HS with a 13T pinon.

overall with a 3S 2250mah lipo powering both the RX and CDI I can easily get 5 full power flights from one charge.

IMHO both the G20 and G30 are very versatile helis....especially the G30 with all the engine displacement choices available to it. The G20 is unique and once dialed in and running clean is a gasser in a price range all by itself.

I'm using 40:1 mix, stock engine, 14T pn, RJX muffler @12k RPM = HS1925 RPM w/22deg pitch range, no bogging @33Ft ASL. Needles: L=1, H=1.25. YMMV.

No more flying until Weds. 15-20kts predicted that day.

14th

Well decided to try the 14th pinion. I had the 15th on it. It was better with the 14th. Head speed held better and over all flight was nicer. I will order the 13th to try next.

My Hanson engine arrived for my Radikal yesterday. Its on like donkey kong

I just got off work and I am off work for the next four days. I wonder what I will be doing this weekend.

This year is the start of my seventh year flying and for that long I have wanted a gasser. I am going to fly this thing till parts wear out and fall off.

sorry to hear that you wrecked her...but sounds like you were having lots of fun with the new gear ratio...I assume you had the plastic TT tail gears and they couldn't handle the load?

rspiegel,

Do you like the 13th pinion?? I have it on the way with my blades for my Radikal.

I am in the process of building my Rad G20 and was wondering if I should wait for the pinion and build the heli with it??

Good

14 th Was good 13Th was better. I would say use the 14th to break it in for 3-4 gallons the after everything is good and stable. Switch to the 13th. It does rpm the engine more so. To be safe break it in with the 14th. Watch that tail I am not sure if the plastic gear broke. Or the Grip Broke. Or the Shaft were the pin goes broke first. Just not sure what broke first. I do know they all broke and went Boom. I am switching to the metal pully. That is the only thing I did not up grade. Also may go to lower gear so the tail does not spin as fast. I run a head speed around 2k so that could have been the issue.

I do really like the 13th I will stay with that for now on.

It is not that hard to change the pinion later. 20min job.

As I have been reading and learning about my Rad G20 this tail grip throwing reports are stressing me out. I quit flying another brand heli due to it happening twice. I modified the other heli with Align metal tail hub and metal grips. It seems as if I should do it with this heli before I even maiden it. I am also going to look into this metal gear.

I agree less rpm on the engine during break in I will build it with the 14t and later switch to the 13 if necessary.
