hey Guys,
got this project a few weeks ago. the helicopter i want to model is a local heli that belongs to Air Life Denver.

3445853405_615e9f5079_b by rdebock1, on Flickr

planning a full interior with my own cut down mechanics. so far i have checked the model against the drawings...there is work to be done.
some of the overall proportions are off but one of the bigger offenders is that the tail is to long and about 2" to short (aside form the tail rotor thing)

so far I have cut the boom and lengthened it. i am now in the process of flipping the tail rotor.
the plan is to mold the tail section since it had to be so badly cut apart.

bell side 2 by rdebock1, on Flickr

i am filling the "panel lines " in the fuse since they are not supposed to be there.

next i will figure out the interior situation.

Ok, talk to me about that picture.

Obviously its from the Bell manual?

Edit: I'm speaking of the process of getting the outline from the PDF into an overly onto a transparent background.

I'm sure after that its just a multi layer image in photoshop.

Not sure where that pic is from.
I did overlay it in solidworks as a sketch picture
And resized the pic to match dimensions. The pic is a jpeg btw

Nice mods so far! I really like that paint scheme, green is my favorite color. Looking forward to seeing this one come together.

Thanks for letting me know about the printer, but I thought that she had printed my vinyl in the past.
I have a small clean pic of the logo, the plan is to turn it into a vector file and make it bigger before I send it to her.

got some work done, started fitting my mechanics in the fuse.

20130106_223933 by rdebock1, on Flickr
looks like it will be a breeze. the mechanics mounting tab will line up with the flange holding the doghouse so will do something with those i am sure.

20130106_223918 by rdebock1, on Flickr
measured out the head hight, and it should be 8cm, and in the pic it is sitting at 8cm looks a little high to me what do you guys think?

20130106_223810 by rdebock1, on Flickr

i am also working on the boom, its almost smooth and ready for vertical tail mount

Yeah, I agree, the head looks a little high. Maybe lower it .5 inch. Build is looking good.

Its the same mechanics I have been working on since scale masters (had them in my apache) but I chopped the bottom off to allow for a mount over the main gear. That saves space in the cabin. I will be running 2 hardwood stringer to mount the mechanics and the main gear will spin underneath. Doing things this way will save at least 1.5 " of lost space compared to mounting the mechanics by the base (as usual)

Can't wait to see your progress. Here are a few shots of Jestrr skids with a little detail I added. I'm using the stock strut mounts on mine. Keep the pictures coming.

reaper31:

The ordering of JestRR's skids was the best investment in my Jet Ranger I ever made. He is a class act and his workmanship is nothing short of art.

Yeah I have used his gear in the past on my LAFD jet ranger. They do look awesome. I was going to get in contact with him sooner or later.

looking good. there are a few of these being built out there, Roy and me are each doing one and its nice that we are building public svc helis, i love a working heli more than anything else. Roy is doing the Puerto Rico Police Dept and i am doing Alabama's Dept of Public Service (state trooper) i already have mine flying (flew it in raw form at Ircha 2012) and now its down for the details, hopefully i can get enough time to finish it by the nats. keep the pics coming

Hey copterdoctor what size blades are on yours?
I have a set of narrow hirobo 690s but wonder if they would be to small
