This event will be held a bit earlier this year due to other conflicting club events. We have also decided to go with a Friday/Saturday format. The field will be open for practice Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.

Yup, the course will be set up and a contest run. Open 3D flight line is expected to be busy on Saturday.

With all the work that goes into preparing for a heli meet I can't believe only 3 pilots will attend, this is no reflection on the hosts of the contest but I have to say there is something wrong with this picture. I have commented on the F3C thread about possible changes to encourage participation. I am a newbie to the heli comp game and have suggested more FF maneuvers replacing some the hover maneuvers to encourage beginners to show up and compete which of course fell on deaf ears----as the numbers dwindle maybe a change is in order before the participation goes to zero.

Actually we had 6 total. 3 in Sportsman and 3 in F3C. Still pretty disappointing. It is my opinion that the real reason for the lack of participation is the amount of work it takes to be competitive. I don't think changing to all FF type maneuvers would change this. Pilots would still need to go out and practice a set of maneuvers in order to be competitive in any given class.

Sorry you couldn't make it...

Thanks to Danny, Laura and the IRKS club for hosted a great event again this year. It was a little breezy, which made it challenging to be sure, but a good time was had by all. Perhaps it was too early in the season, or the Dayton five hennert' caused scheduling issues, and others had last minute family member injuries, but we missed those that couldn't make it.

Perhaps next year...

And, a big thanks to those that bought t-sirts and hats to benefit the 2013 US F3C WC team!

Yeah I had an awesome time.. Learned alot from flying with the F3C guys and getting to judge them was an experience.. Hey Cliff post the link to the Team donations site when you get a chance.. I didn't have cash with me there but I would love to contribute.. David
