Since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:
Homicides are up 3.2 percent Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note, that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.
There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort, and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.
You won’t see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.
Don't forget Germany of the 1930s. First came the confiscation of all guns, next came the ovens.

We need total gun control so that we can be peaceful like Syria and the rest of the middle east! We could then have a Muslim spring and We also could have the same right to be gunned down in the streets by our government, just like in Iran!
I can hardly wait for the whole country to be as safe as Chicago and DC.

We need total gun control so the government can kill millions with out fear like China and the Soviet Union. We won't discuss the millions of babies killed by the liberals in this country.

No offense meant to my friends down under, just a real world example of government DKS.

Why can't we...as a community, get rid of boat-boy??? Every person here despises him. If 99% of us speak our mind, why can't we cut out the cancer???

Esco, It is amazing how dumb some of the things you say are.

It is really sad that there are others like you running around, clueless, and they vote.
Just really sad how this country has degenerated.

The republican cant openly condem the shooting in newton but they can tell you how much gun they have or how much they sell.
i keep saying it ban all hand gun now, i little one growing up
and this killing move the earths from under my feet, while the republican trihump for more gun sale.

Have you ever been to either one of those places, really?
And I'm pretty sure that the machette is the murder weapon of choice in that part of the country.

And by the way; [url=http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/news/Caribbean-firearm-murder-rates-second-highest-in-the-world--UN-report_9856529]

There are many references on the net to the violence in the Caribbean, with Jamica being the worst!

So as usual Esco is ignorant, lying, or both!

Chicago has tough gun laws....also passed 500 homicides in 2012. Guess the criminals dont know about all the gun laws.

Everyone knows the criminal element is not to blame for gun related violence. Just watch any of the main stream media.

think about how twisted Chicago is. They just passed a new tax on new firearms purchased in order to pay for gunshot victims. Sooo...law abiding citizens are now being taxed so that criminals with illegal guns can get patched up and have it paid for by people that did nothing wrong. Not to mention, I thought you couldn't buy guns in Cook County??
Next up...the bullet tax.

Chicago starting the year out with a bang (pun intended). Three deaths and twelve people shot from midnight to 6:00am. Going for another record in 2013, liberal leadership at its finest. Wonder if anyone has ever done a study on violence/crime differences between a liberal city and a conservative city.
