Thanks guys

Don: the glazing is held in place with .9mm eyeglass screws.

Paul: Thanks, I'm still waiting on the other pics. Hopefully I'll have some for you soon...

Barry:

If you have not got the screws in place yet, see if you can keep them more to the inside of the mounting area so that you can trim a bit more of the glass but not enough to weaken it. I don't know how many screws are used to hold the full size canopy pieces in place but once you get enough of them in there, the entire housing starts to get very solid. I found that, with my TOW Defender, the canopy area was as solid as any other fibreglass structure in the helicopter. Hope you can use lots. Love the S300's.

Hi Don, agreed and thanks for the suggestion. The holes are already drilled and this fuse is plenty strong without having to add a ton of screws. I flew it for over 1 year with no windows installed.

The issue with this fuse is that the window frames are just too wide to ever look scale. The real heli has very narrow frames. I chose not to trim the borders any more, as the windows are tinted black. I just painted the entire frame and relief black, this way it blends into the window. had I left them white, you would have seen them through the tinted window. This is why I painted the door window relief black also.

Looks great!

Sweet Barry, glad you went with that paint job, really looks scale. Hope to see it at scale masters this year if I get to go, maybe I can bring my little one and fly it, it is piston powered....

I really have to get into those bigger scale heli's one of these days.

Thanks Darrell, we better see you at SM this year! You missed an awesome event last year...

Malc: Thanks I'm just now starting to really scale out my helis. I take a lot of inspiration from the guys in this forum who have taught me a lot... My talent pales in comparison to some of these guys.

Thanks Stan Here are the tanks all done. I had to build the tank brackets, since vario doesn't supply anything with the kit. I just couldn't see putting this much effort into the build and just bolting the tanks to the cabin. The brackets are .040 thick styrene sheet with .250 square styrene stock, then I bonded wood spacers (not shown) to the tanks, so that the styrene brackets wouldn't be carrying the load from tightening the bolts. The gas caps are spun from aluminum round stock and the bungs are .040 thick styrene with rivet glue for the fasteners. The tank straps are just styrene stock. I painted the silver and black on the straps to simulate the metal band clap with rubber trim.

Dialed In..

Great job on the tanks and mounting..
The styrene sheet and shapes is something that Paul turned me onto, and possibilities are endless with it.
You have a great looking heli...

Thanks Stan, Here she is with the glazing and crash bar installed. I also painted the TR blades today, they match the heli that I am copying. Not to mention that almost every 300 I have seen has some variation of this TR paint. Next up is finishing the dummy engine and hooking up the lights, then she's complete! BTW, I used your canopy glue as locktite on all of the little screws

Thanks guys. I finished the battery box and tray. The tray is .040 thick styrene sheet. Next up, mount the dummy motor halves. I'm also going to apply aluminum foil tape to the leading edge of the tail blades.

Barry,
Your 300 and all the detail look incredible!! I like the looks of the engine in the background. When it is complete please get a picture of it next to your R22 for a size comparison.

Thanks guys Here's the engine all finished and mounted. Please ignore the messy wiring, it's not finished yet. The 300 looks like a toy next to my big R22... The 300 is 54" long and the R22 is 72".
