Then saddle up tough guy and go git'r done!! But I'm betting you'd rather sit at home watching NASCAR and let someone else's kid do it for you, right??
What is this "Tough Guy" and "Watching NASCAR and "Letting" some other kid do it for you crapola?

Aren't you forgetting our military is ALL VOLUNTARY?

The draft is a thing of the past slick.

Nope, I haven't forgotten, I volunteered myself. Which makes it all the more imperative that we do not put them in harm's way without good cause.

How about you? Did you volunteer? Just curious.

I did get a draft notice back in 66.

But, joined the Navy to avoid that draft.

BTW: Just a note in history:

The draft ended during the Nixon years. But, he (Nixon) did ask for an extension of the draft.

Then, the draft actually ended during the Ford administration.

You know, I don't think there is any president that intentionally and with malice puts or has put any of our military in harms way. There may have been mistakes made. I will not argue each and every one of them because its a waste of time.

Unless its a democrat and there is an election coming up.

Tell me.

Is it less imperative if there is a draft?

Or more imperative if there isn't?

Wait just a minute. Only those who served or had relatives who served or had friends that served have the right to talk about whether war is the answer to a specific situation?

We honor those who served. We honor those who gave their lives. We honor our military.

Those of us who have not served stand by and support. We are the backbone... the financiers, the builders and the compassionate ones who are there doing whatever we can to support and reduce the need for real war.

We are one. Don't separate us as the military would not exist without all of us.

My daughter lost her life in a different war last year. She was ready to ship out on her first assignment with the Air Force. She died at home on her first leave. 20 years old. Heroin.

I agree. But that is not what I am talking about. I am talking about when our leaders too easily put our troops in harm's way on the thinnest of reasons and for nothing that has anything to do with the security of this nation.

I am further speaking about others who seem all to anxious to initiate a war for whatever reason because it seems to fit with their political view of our "place" as the toughest guys on the block. I am amused by the irony of how stridently the right speaks about the right to life and the protection of the unborn, but then they turn around and are ready to send our troops into war with almost no reservations.

Again, not what I said. I mostly posted that to head off the inevitable idiotic comment about peace-nik lefties who know nothing of the sacrifice of defending this nation. Honestly, this forum should be re-named to the "I completely missed the point" forum.

I dont think its the 'volunteers' right to judge what is ustifiable and what is not when sent to war. When you sign up (volunteer),you are owned by the government. If you dont like being sent in harms way for what you think is no good reason then you should not have signed up.
I am sure a lot of the reasons countries go to war are far more complicated than what simplified version of reasons people see on the television.

No, I didn't.

I served as a store keeper abroad a guided missile cruiser (USS Providence CLG 6) that was a flag ship for the 7th fleet and carried the Admiral and his staff aboard. That was between 66 and early 69.

We did spend a lot of time at Yankee Station firing all gun salvos from our 5 inch and 6 inch guns. We took a few heavy mortar hits from enemy shore batteries. But, they were quickly taken care of.

You have got to be kidding.

What you just said in that statement was one of the silliest statements the lefty liberals put out there.

The notion that the republicans are the only ones that get us into wars is one of the most ignorant statements the left puts out there. Thats what you just basically said by idiomatic inference.

Study your history slick.

is my opinion somehow more valid because I DID have a kid in harms way for 6 years??? I doubt you'd agree with that because it won't fit your narrative.
Also, don't sell short an "old farts brigade"...
We might not be real spry, but I'll bet we'd be clearer thinking and better shots....
If anything were to ever happen here on a big scale, I'd be willing to bet people in the their 40's thru their 60's would be the backbone of civil defense. Most of the new generation don't know how to even hold a gun, much less hit the braod side of a barn...

Cleaned the AR this weekend, checked that it was still sighted in. Ran 200 rounds of 45 ACP through the XDM as well.

The left says no to the death penalty, wanting to spare the lives of the worst pieces of trash in society, meanwhile they push pro-choice= mass murder of unborn human beings.

Nice picture FHB. Too bad it is total BS contrived by some idiot who had no idea what he was looking at. Sadly, those with an agenda happily pass along the fraud.

Here's the real scoop and story:

Notice, this has NOTHING to do with Islam. THis is a Hindu man in India. Not that this little fact will have any impact on you guys. I mean really, can't you support your arguments without making $#!t up???
