The owner of Scorpion Motors has told me that what has mostly driven the cost increases of his motors over the past few years is the sky rocketing cost of the rare earth magnets.

And what that also means, is that if you're paying the same cost for a class of motor as you were a couple of years ago, or the cost of a comparable motor is significantly lower than the norm, then you're getting a motor with cheaper lower quality and lower temperature rated magnets in the motor.

The people in governments main goal is to obtain power over their fellow man, and thus limit the potential of mankind and his endeavors.

Such a shame. Just after I was celebrating the price of Lipos being so affordable after years of high prices, THIS!

I hope this doesn't mean $500 700 motors. The cost full up is bad enough as it is.

The second link about the US mine/plant in Cali that went online in Aug is good news. Its not stated there but mine is supposed to be able to output 100% of us domestic needs.

Of course rare earth is like oil and a lot of it will be shipped from/through the US to the highest bidder(China). Just like oil and Canadian natural gas but it should help soften the price increases a bit anyways.

Another reason this election is important.

It would also help if the dollar was stronger against foreign currency.

Rare earth and demand could easily drive up the cost. brushless motors are finding their way in to so many things these days that our hobby is not the only market force.

If you take care of a brushless motor with adequate cooling, then that motor should last a heck of a long time, far longer than a nitro motor would without having to be rebuilt time and time and time again (now thats expensive!) I was reading about electric motors and heard that the first wear point is the bearings, then the second wear point is the windings due to vibrations and the magnets enemy is excessive heat.
