So anyone that has ever met me knows, if there isn't a Tx in my hand there is probably a cigarette in it.
Well 19 days ago the post man delivered my life changing package.
Whilst drinking coffee and enjoying a cig I unwrapped and examined this curious thing unnkowing it would be a life changer.
A 26yr smoker I had interest in quitting but knew the patch, the gum and the pills would not work because it was the physical habit I loved. The long draw on a cig with that sooth your soul feel. The something in your hands to keep them occupied. I knew that was the part of the habit I held dear and did not want to give up.
Once the battery had charged, Oh, Battery? Yes, battery. What everyone commonly calls a Ecig and I now call a PV(personal vaporizor) was ready to try.
It was rocky at first, switching back and forth between the PV(ecig) and real cigs. I eased into it and after 2hrs my lighter was getting lonely.
I had the hand satisfaction and although not a lung filling experience, it was good.
So that pack of cigs sat on the table in the same place over the next few days and then it became a week. At that time I was no longer trying to cough up a lung every morning, in fact I could take a deep breathe without coughing. That is something I haven't done in quite some time.
Well at a week of not smoking I decided I can do this. Shelve the helis and learn a ton about Vaping. Learned about better vaping and the better satisfying vape.
So today, is day 19.
Do I want a cigarette? No. Do I crave a cigarette? No.
Why? The hand part is easy, I have a PV in my hands. The craving, well the juice we use has nicotine in it(one juice I use has none) like a patch. Juice comes in many blends for flavor, more vapor or less and in many cases is mixed up for you after you order it. I am still looking for my favorite flavor but I am using a satisfying one right now. Juice is also ordered at a nicotene level that suits your needs.
After a week my sense of taste and smell started coming back. There was the part of the world I was numbed to. Now food has flavor. Walking outdoors, the air has those autumn smells I have missed for years.
I am so glad I gave this a try!

Friends don't encourage friends to fly helis! It can cause part shortages.

Good on ya, mate. I quit dipping snuff (a 23 year habit) in January. I just decided that I had enough, and didn't buy anymore. It really wasn't that bad. Once your mind is made up, you can do anything.

The hardest part, was about 4 months into it. Seriously. I hadn't even thought about getting a dip. Then, one night, I had one of the most vivid dreams I've ever experienced....I dreamed that I took the fattest, most awesomely tasting dip. It was, as I imagine, as euphoric as a syringe of heroin coursing up my veins.

I later woke up, in a very foul mood. I felt as though I let myself down. I felt horrible for giving in. All of those months..back to square 1 now. It wasn't until around 15 minutes later, while in the shower, did I realize that it was just a dream (it seriously was that real to me). I was back to feeling good about being clean.

It's been 11 months now since I've quit. Still don't think about it, and am quite glad I quit. I've only had 2 of those "real" dreams. It's pretty freaky! Congrats man...keep your mind right and you'll stick with it.

I would like to share my life changing story with the e-cig as well. I started messing around with them in may of this year. My buddy started using one and he had quit smoking for good. I started off really good at first then on June 21st my father passed away from a massive heart attack following a heat stroke. That caused me to give in and start back smoking again, actually more. I got sent to Honolulu for my job and spent 3 and a half weeks there. A single pack of Marlboro lights cost $10.89. This was enough to get me back on my e-cig, I found a place there that sold the e-liquid and bought some. As you know that cost is way cheaper than a pack would be. I have not had a real cigarette since the first week in August only the e-cig. There are somedays that I have so much going on I don't even use it. And just like you described my sense of smell and taste has increased so much. I can't even stand the smell of cigarette smoke now. There are some great places online to get parts and liquid from, some have better deals on parts and others have better tasting flavors. I hope that you stick with it it has been a great improvement in my life.

Better than wanting a real cig!
I have one juice that is zero nicotene. A nice cherry flavor. Sometimes I just use that for a couple hours.

Here is the kicker, my mom was at my house visiting when my package arrived.
I only know she is a 30+ yr smoker. She was intrigued by it and wants to give it a try. She has some stressful thing going on at the momment and said once they are over she wants to try it.
Well I am going to make it one step easier for her to try. I am going to give her my Volt. Only condition, if she doesn't want to quit, I get it back. If it works for quitting then I will guide her toward a nice PV unit.
Just like lipo batteries, ecigs are mysterious and overwhelming until you have an understanding.
I am just happy I quit, passing on info and being helpful is just part of being a good person.

Great that this is working well for you. I'm sure you will make it. Just don't give up and go back to the pack. Take Care and Stay with us long as possible. Cigarettes only shorten a persons time here. I know!!!

I quit about a year and half ago. I tried the e-cig. It did not work. It was close to the real thing, but just not the same enjoyment. The smoke is not real and the enjoyment was just not the same for me.

I quit with a combo of patches and weening off real cigs.

I know the patches say dont smoke when you use them. I did anyways. The patches really help reduce the cravings but did not totally eliminate them. So that reduced the amount I smoked by about 50%. After about two or three week I was only smoking about 5 cigs a day. Usually after I woke up and after a meal and one before bed. Then it was reduced to only after a meal and in the AM, then it was only when I woke up, then nothing..

Ever go into a restaurant or bar and Ecig up? Waiter or bartender ask you to "put it out?"

I just figured that would be awkward, argumentative, and gratifying all at the same time.

12 weeks for me. E-cig, Provari. Wife and I both. Good for you! Stay strong you can do it! Best thing we ever did. Saving so much money we bought her a new car, the savings from no tobacco make the payment!
