OS 55 is a good solid motor. i have flown the YS 60 before and i diffident realize a big difference, i think its a little easier to tune the OS motors as apposed to the YS, but that's just personal opinion.

I went from flying OS50 hypers to a YS56 and YS60. I would agree that the OS is easier to tune but the YS60 does run really sweet on 15% or 30%. The Funtech B323 muffler works really well with it.

Hey John,

I went from a ys50 to a ys56 last year. In your experience, is the performance gain going from the 50->56 about the same as going from the 56->60? More? Less?

Thanks!

I was flying a Raptor 50 with a Hyper 50 and a Velocity 50 with the YS56 but the Velocity is a pound lighter so its not a fair comparison.

I just got a Funtech muffler for the YS56 because the baffels in the Outrage muffler came loose and are rattling around inside. This weekend I can fly the YS56 and YS60 side by side both with Funtech mufflers. They are both in identically equipt Qutrage Velocity 50 N2's. My inital take on t he 60 was that it was smoother and did have more power but it wasn't a huge about. Lately I've been running the 60 on 15% and it has plenty of power. I'm not a hard 3D flyer. It hot weather I might want the extra power of the 30%

Doing stationary rolls with the YS60 using 30% you can hard hear a change in the engine tone through the whole roll.

at the Heli Phenom in MA i helped a guy tune his YS 60 motor and it did seem smooth on 30% but when i convinced him to put some of my Power Master (23.5%) nitro fuel in his helicopter the motor just sang. it sounded even smoother it ran colder. for me its always been difficult to tune a YS motors (Mid) needle, but when i put the power master in the smoke trail on climb outs were much more consistent and very little puffs of smoke during half stick of the climb outs.

the power master 23.5% fuel seemed to be a better match for the motor in my opinion.

YS60 is a beauty.
Much better engine than YS50 or 56 IMO.
I own & fly with these 3 engines.

Very impressive break engine process, it took half a tank to idle without an igniter; I felt it was easier to tune up then older versions.

My combo goes with Hatori SB-1 in a FBL synergy N5c.

I do not own an OS55 but have flown a friend's heli with this engine in the past.
Good thing about it is 15% nitro suits it fine; bearing challenge remain with this version just as Hyper 50.

I am sure YS will run with 15% nitro but it will be harder to tune up.

I like YS60 much better than OS55.

My 2 cents.

Same boat as you. Always run OS and have never owned a YS, but thinking about it.
Please respond back with your thoughts once you get it going.

Walk on water long enough, eventually you will get your feet wet.

Got the fly the YS56 and YS60 back to back alot over the last two days. I'm flying the YS56 on RotorRage 30% and the YS60 on RotorRage 15%. Both have Funtech mufflers and both are in Identical Velocity N2s. The YS60 is really sweet engine. The YS56 runs good but the YS60 is so smooth and consistant that I liked flying it just so I could listen to it. The two engines felt like they hade about the same power but the YS60 was doing it with 15%. In the heat of the summer I may want to go back to the 30% but for now I an REAL happy with the YS60 and 15%.
