I replaced the feathering shaft on my hawk due to a crash. After I reinstalled the new shaft, after the locknuts are tightened, the main blade grips do no seem to rotate smoothly. They have a touch of binding to them and seem like they might be rubbing where the arm from grip passes the main head block.

The feathering shaft nuts have to be loosened quite a bit to remove all the binding.

Is this normal for the hawks?

Any ideas what is going on?

Thanks,

-Dave

No, that is not normal.

Check your dampner. They probably need to be pushed in further or shaved down a bit. I would highly recommend just changing them out.

some times blade grips can feel notchy. If you pull out on each grip and rotate them do they feel smoother?

Think I got it sorted. Grips were upside down...

Much better now.

THanks for the help.

you can put the grips on (as you say) "upside down" and they should turn freely, I'm betting your problem came from one of the Radial Bearings not being seated correctly or a washer was out of place, ether way it's fixed now
