Hi adamsz6

Even an 'expensive' heli does not get close to 2/3 of the total cost.... unless you put Hobby King $2 servos in a heli!!!!

I spent about the same on 3 sets of TP batteries as i did on my TDR kit...... I am just saying that high end machines usually get high end equipment and entry level get entry level etc, etc. the 1/3 price for the kit is quite universal.

Regards
Paul

PWood, you misread my post...if you or I tried to develop, manufacture, and distribute a new heli from the ground up, entirely made in the U.S., the cost would be astronomical and would have to be passed on to the customer in the form of higher kit prices. My guess is that it would cost easily twice as much as a kit made overseas by a company like Align.

Well I've been sick and away for a couple of days but after reading through all of the post, I feel the best way to go about all of this is to close the thread and see what type of response I get out if my prototype when it's completed mid to late november, we are still in the process of writing programs to cut the parts and componets,
All of the machining and laser cutting will be done in house in our family owned machine shop here in NC as well as the manufacture of my carbon/Kevlar material for the frame sides and molding of our canopies. All I will say for now is for the people that like the quality and unique designs of the tdr and goblin, I think for the most part everyone will be impressed with the new ideas and design
