Anyone have any idea what would cause a violent shake in hover, one of the guys at our field would go into a hover, then a violent shake would occurre for a short period then stop. His heli has a total g and jr 8917 servoes.

Well he has been flying it for 3 weeks now, no issues until today. I believe he did make some changes with the total g.

When you say violenT shake do you mean:

Tail?
Head?

Is the engine running smoothly? Is it real rich?

Make sure the dampening is proper. Make sure the TG is mounted properly and nothing else is loose on the heli such as boom supports, head assembly, etc.

I would guess the flight control GAIN is too high.
Please tell us how high it is set to.

The entire heli shakes like something is loose, but we didnt find anything. as I mentioned it is a short but violent shake but only last a few seconds. When we saw saw it we urged him to land immediately.

Has anything been changed on the heli beside the TG flight Control gain? Check the dampening. Is the head assembly tight? What blades are on it?

If you turn the FC control off does it still shake?

I had that happen to me. ON my ENV FBL Nitro it was the Steel Control Ball. I think the part number is AS1096. It's attached to the Main Blade Grip Pitch Control Arm. It was Loctited but worked loose. I had to replace it as the threads were stripped out.

Agree with CH47C that a loose blade grip ball is likely culprit. Also check that there's no up and down play on the main shaft by grabbing the rotor head and pulling up and down

Thanks for all the help and info.I put in a new swash
We set the gain down to 57 changed the main shaft bearing the shake is still there but not as violent as before(only on a hard left rudder input) going to change the dampners next and see what happens
