Following the DDT trucks. How interesting. I saw a video recently in the 1960's where they exploded a nuclear bomb over the heads of 5 service men.

They are now having to do aerial spraying in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas to control the mosquitoes carrying the West Nile Virus. I'm not sure what kind of insecticide they are using.

On topic: As for the toxicity of nitro smoke, isn't castor oil the same stuff that mothers used to make their children drink? I know we're using synthetic now, but it's got to be a similar compound.

All I know is that when I'm around a methanol/nitro powered heli, and the wind is just right, my eyes start to water.

I'm pretty sure that Dave's eyes start to water because of all the memories that the smell of nitro smoke reminds him of.

Don't worry Dave. The smell of nitro smoke reminds me of the "good old days" too. Reminds me of having to bring a bottle of Windex and a roll of paper towels with me to field. Reminds me of that nasty thick crap which would drip out of my muffler onto my back seat.

On second thought, those days weren't all that good after all.

+1

I'm a clean freak when it come to my helis I admit it, I can't get over it, I can't overlook it. It IS who I am. I cleaned oil off for over 10 years. I can't say I never will again, but I doubt it.

How smart is it to put a dripping mis-tuned nitro in your seat?

You had other issues. Lol.

A well tuned nitro still has oil all over it last time I checked. You ever seen a nitro machine before?
