What is this slop guys?
Is it junk servos?
Is there a V Bar adjustment?

I plugged in a Savox 1290 and it is rock solid.

Would new gear sets help?
The dimple in the case lid is oblonged on one of them....Maybe all of them?

I just don't see how ear would allow the pinion to actually turn though.

They have the same sloppy spot without power too.

that is typical of a JR8717, you will not notice it in flight.

Wrong....I notice the he!! out of it.lol

The main shaft is bent and I'm waiting on a new one...Maybe that causes some exaggerated behavior but the heli oscillates BAD because the swash can freely tilt 10-12 degrees.

And the blades look like Jim Furyks backswing when it spools up sometimes.

Just send them into Horizon. They will most likely replace them for free

I actually don't like the servos and if it means waiting a month on new ones....They won't be 8717's.

Everybody always says..."Typical of 8717's" no matter what...Sloppy....Lock up without power....Buzzing.....

This is one of the reasons I like plastic gear servos over metal. Look into some decent futabas.

Send them in anyway...and then sell them if they send you new ones.
Then the next guy winds up paying for it which isn't so cool but then again...you've already paid for the last guy.

You need to replace the gears and the case , I had exactly the same thing on my 700 , but its not worth it , as they will always have some slop,
Rather replace the servos, outrage, align or futabas!

Send them in to Horizon service. Not to go against the previous post, but I most definitely notice it in flight!!!

If something doesn't feel quite right in the air (having to trim when you didn't use to, rolls off a little, etc), I land and check the servos. So far it has been the servos 100% of the time.

My sanwa servos never do this, some have been in service for over five years, too.

I call bs on the swash tilting freely 10-12 degrees. It would be unflyable. I have multiple sets of 8717s with the same amount of slop as your video and they feel no different than my 255s with no slop, all on vbar. I think it is all in your head or the bent mainshaft.

Thanks guys.
I know about the top case issue and know for a fact that one is bad...Probably all three.

I ordered a new main shaft and I'll try it before I buy new servos.

If I buy new servos,I'll send these in for repair or replacement...Good spares or RC truck steering servos.

I drilled a hole in my bench that the main shaft fit perfectly.
I put it in a 2000 RPM drill and stuck it in the hole....Almost shook my teeth out.lol....The bend looks so slight but at speed...it's BAD.

That might be making the V Bar nuts.

I've got 94554 servos from the 80's that are tighter than those servos.

McKrackin: My 8717's I had did the same thing. It started to get more and more noticeable in flight also. The whole midstick 0 degree feeling wasnt there and hovering jumped up and down. Ill use Outrage servos or Savox next. I got rid of them servos quick. I even replaced the servo wheels thinking they just developed slop. But nope wasted time doing that.

Align/Savox,same servo different name.Had a new set in my FBL 700N and right at 100 flights I could move the main blades with power on and they had a good 3 degrees of slop..Was going to buy a set of gears but at $35.00 ($105.00 for all 3) ,better off getting a new set..Ive used Align servos close to 4 years on all my flybar helis with hundreds of flights and no slop but learning how hard FBL is on them..The ones in my FBL 600N have around 60 flights so I hope they last longer as the 600N isn't as stressfull as my 700N was..

Had to order two servo cases from A Main and one from Readyheli due to stock issues.

Got the one from Readyheli today and replaced the lid on one servo and it is now ROCK solid with no slop and doesn't bind anywhere....

Can't wait for the other two.lol....

I wonder about that JR sevice some of you are talking about, I never had them fix them for free, I just sent 4 8717's in,
wonder how much it will cost to get them back??

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!
