What would I use to clean this out? The piston looks fine on both sides but I was thinking I should clean the carbon buildup on the exhaust port. Can I do it without damaging the piston? Do I even need to clean it? I don't want to take the engine apart.

Would brake cleaner or carb cleaner work?

Thanks for your thoughts,

Carbon is hard to remove with chemicals plus it is too easy to push debris into the engine. If it is not too bad, leave it. If it is bad, pull the cylinder and clean it properly. If the port is badly carboned up, then other areas will need cleaning too.

My method :

I'm AlL way's different :

I run pure Syn Fuel and Syn Oil - Which leaves a very soft deposit : Trick is how to get it out

Some time's I pull both sides : Carb and Exhaust - but usually just the Exhaust. Only when I see it's necessary

If you do One Side ONLY MAKE SURE THE CARB IS BONE DRY FROM FUEL - ALL LINES DRY !!!! Or you may have a very exciting moment.

I pull the plug - rotate the jug to the bottom - to seal the case from any carbon deposit's.

Using the Shop Vac - I have it Lock lip's with the spark Plug Hole

Using ONLY a wooden dowel that I 've sharpened to a flat on one side I just pretend the girl is at the dentist and remove the plaque

If it the Zimmer Rear can I think RA tosses em the Dish Washer or Hold's the Hose to one end - I'll Glycol Dip mine when it necessary
