the shop got a water jet about 6 months ago and wow the things that this can do. Was looking at some samples that people made and was wondering if there was a place that i can download a few of them. I seen a old steam train that i taught was cool. I have the software home for me to play with but i can't save anything.

Wait til you get to play with a laser jet, it makes a water jet look like a crayon.

A laser jet? Like a printer? Those are pretty neat!

Some ideas on where to find OMAX Sample files:

1 - Make your own. Your employer can call OMAX and get a password for you to register your software. Once you have this, you can path artwork for a bazillion sources (and some of the suggestions below would require you do this).

2 - Use Google Image Search (http://images.google.com/), and type in just about anything followed by the word "silhouette", and then use OMAX Intelli-TRACE to convert to vector. For example, "steam train silhouette". Likewise use the manual and automatic image tracing functions to trace photos you take, etc.

3 - Look at the OMAX Sample files, which if you are running Vista or newer, can be found here (assuming you have the OMAX software installed): C:\Users\Public\OMAX_Corporation\AllUserData\Samples\, or if you are running an older operating system can be found in C:\Program Files (x86)\OMAX Corporation\OMAX_Layout_and_Make\Samples\

4 - Look for the topic "Vector Art Mega Collection" in the OMAX Help screens. This is a huge collection (but costs money)

5 - Look up "Tips & Tricks\Assorted Tips\"A source of fun parts to make" in your help screens.

5 - Go to http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/waterjets/files/, as there are quite a few OMAX files posted there already pathed, as well as unpathed dxf files.

6 - Talk to the OMAX guy next time he's at your shop. Most of the techs have their own personal collections of cool tool paths that they might be willing to share.

7 - Search Google for "Free SVG Files", or "Free AI files", etc., and often you can find a few item.

Hope this helps.

i looked in arts and samples and found lots of cool samples but on my version of omax i have a other customer samples folder which has all the cool samples but that folder does not exist on the computer at work. i do know we have the option providing i know the mega pixel of the camera that i can take a picture put it in layout and clean it up and it should be able to change it to a dxf file so i can open it in make and produce that part. That part of it i have not tried yet, still learning
