Just ran across this vid on youtube (after reading about the club banning electrics and the subsequent club field/fire.) I am an electric flyer, and have no plans to go nitro soon. Seeing vids like this is a good reminder to watch what you're doin, and don't forget to take the time to put your extinguisher in your car. It appears this guy was doing nothing wrong, other than the fact that it was a plane!!! Look how close his face was at the :30 second mark.

It was reported that there was a problem when he plugged the Lipo in inside the clubhouse, Something electrical made a noise ("a fart" and thats when they moved it outside. So the problem was with a short in something electrical. That in turn caused the lipo problem.

True enough...

combustible materials need an ignition source. Probably fair enough to say most lipo fires, come from something failing (whether it's a bum wire, esc, field charger, pilot slamming heli into ground, or a bad cell from company ABC...) Just meant to be an illustration of holy crud... that could blow up on me!

I was more interested in the camera man who while carrying the camera decided to do a jog around his car and come back. Now that was funny.

He went after a fire extinguisher that some one had already gotten.

Maybe someone farted. It's been known to spontaneous combustion.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day

Ok here are my thoughts . . . . .

1. NEVER charge LiPo battery's on/in something that will burn, this includes wood models.

2. If you hear the battery making noises, UNPLUG it quickly.

Just saying.
