Something I can't figure out.

Setup:

OS 55 hz, Outrage Pipe
Outrage Velocity N2 stock 8.6.1 gear
Edge Fbl 623 blades
12.5 pitch
Dx7

Attempting to keep the headspeed around 2050 IU2.

IU1 & 2, have a linear pitch curve, and a flat 100% throttle curve.

Full punch outs in normal mode which is not rev limited, is very very quick. Linear throttle and pitch curves.

Go into IU2 while hovering, and you can tell that the rpm drops down below where is was in Normal Mode.

In IU2, Full punch out, is not even close to as quick when in Normal mode ?

I did recently put new bearings in, maybe part of it could be the rev limiter spacing against the back plate ?

Thanks

Idle up curves should be a "v" curve.
90-65-90
100-65-100
These are only examples, as it's dependent on what max HS you want.

I only use 100% flat curves on mine, haven't used V-curves since non-gov days, lol. Anyway, did you recalibrate your 7100r again after you rebuilt your motor?

The thing Im wondering that wasnt mentioned in the OP.Was it working before? And then all that has changed is motor work(bearings)?

How exactly are you controlling the gain(atv)for the Gear chan?
You say its off in Normal. So you have Chan5 set to center and then use one mix to set the rpm in Idl1&2 to 2050? Or two different headspeeds for Idl 1&2? 2 mixes? Did you set it up? Did you confirm that nothing was changed in the radio to change Chan5 values? You didnt say anything about Idl1.Is the rpm correct there? Or do you just jump from Normal to 2?

If its gaining rpm going from Idl2 to normal it sounds like the values for Chan5 arent right. If it was right before and it is actually working(it must be if its not going WOT in Idl with 100% flat TCurve) changing the sensor distance shouldnt change the value.Unless the sensor was farther away before and it is now seeing the crankpin also and seeing 2 blank spots instead of 1.

What is Chan5 doing on the Monitor screen when you change FModes?
Calibrating the Rx could help but if it was correct before and you didnt change any electronic components it shouldnt have changed.

Thanks for the feedback, went back through my steps this morning.

It’s always been a little off when switching to stunt modes.

Controlling the Rev Limiter via the Gear Channel.
Monitor screen for Gear is center when in Normal mode
Pic attached of monitor when switching to idl 1, when going to idl 2, gear is increase slightly.

Prog Mix 1: rate = 0
Prog Mix 2: rate = 83%
Prog Mix 3: rate = 3%

There is a rpm increase going from idl1 to idl2

Step taken to calibrate:

Transmitter:

Set Gear / Gear in Input select menu

Set throttle trim to low off position via the throttle trim rocker switch

Set Normal throttle curve to 0-25-50-75-100, during the previous times re calibrating, I had this set to 0-inh-40-inh-100

Gear travel adjust is always +100, -100
Throttle stick is set to Low, throttle hold to off, normal mode

Turn off / on transmitter

Power up receiver, toggle the Gear switch, till the green light starts flashing, while it’s still flashing

Raise and lower throttle stick a couple times

Toggle the Gear switch twice till green light goes out. Prior attempts doing this, I only toggled it once.

Turn off receiver then transmitter.

Turn on transmitter,

Set Gear / INH in the input select menu
Set Throttle trim back to center
Set Norm throttle curve back to 0-inh-40-inh-100

Turn on receiver, rotate the engine crank, and verify the Sens Led lights up red.

Reading the manual this morning, before calibrating , should I also set

Prog Mix 1: rate = +100%
Prog Mix 2: rate = -100%
Prog Mix 3: rate = 0

Then once calibration is complete, change it back to

Prog Mix 1: rate = 0
Prog Mix 2: rate = 83%
Prog Mix 3: rate = 3%

OR could it be that before calibrating, my idl 1 throttle curve was not linear ?

Made the changes and got a quick flight in during lunch.

Noticed that now the rev limiter is limiting the throttle in Normal Mode.

Any ideas on how to remove it from limiting in this mode ?

Prog Mix 1 “ Normal “
Gear -->Gear = ON
Rate = 0%
SW:ON

Read somewhere online that setting the rate to -100%, might achieve this, will have to wait later this evening to verify.

Ok, changing the rate to -100% in prog mix 1, has not disabled the limiter in normal mode.

Any ideas ?

It sounds like maybe it didnt get calibrated correctly.
I think maybe you are making it far more complicated than necessary.
First Inhibit all the mixes. When you calibrate the channel has to move 100/100 when you enter calibration. Then move the throttle stick up and down.Exit calibration.
Then go and set the mixes and values in one of the ways I suggested in the other thread.Personally I would set a limiter for all 3 modes. Its much simpler and you only use 2 mixes. You dont have to worry about getting the center/off position right and it just works. If you want it to be off just flip the Gear switch down. Its effectively off with a 100% value.
If your going to try and get 2050 headspeed with 8.6:1 gearing your going to need 17630 engine rpm.Look at the table in the manual.Your basically at 100% gain to get there.Actually 100% gives 17340.Divide by 8.6 and you have 2016.An 8.5 gear will get you 2050.

I never had good luck setting it with the math and the graph numbers.I just use it to give a rough idea where I should be and what is possible.
I always seem to be a little faster than what the math gives me so I fine tune with a tach accordingly.

So in Idl2 your basically going to be looking for close to 100 on the channel. If you want 1900 in Idl1 maybe around 90.
What rpm are you looking to have in Normal? Alot,or just enough to take off and land?

Your also leaving out the info about switch assignment for each mix. This matter alot.Simlpy putting the mixes in doesnt work without unique switch assignments for each.

Update – Rev Limiter is now off in Normal Mode.
Step taken to calibrate:

Transmitter:

Set Gear / Gear in Input select menu

Set throttle trim to low off position via the throttle trim rocker switch

Set all throttle curves modes to 0-25-50-75-100
INH all Prog Mix’s

Gear travel adjust is always +100, -100

Aux2 travel adjust +100, -100

Throttle stick is set to Low, throttle hold to off

Turn off / on transmitter

Power up receiver, toggle the Gear switch, till the green light starts flashing, while it’s still flashing

Raise and lower throttle stick

Toggle the Gear switch twice till green light goes out.
Set back up

Prog Mix 1: rate = 0
Prog Mix 2: rate = 83%
Prog Mix 3: rate = 3%
I usually adjust the mix rate number, based on my desired head speed, which is measured with a tach. Max, 2050, iup 1, slightly lower, and normal mode, just enough to hover and no shaking

Gear / INH in the input select menu
Throttle trim back to center
Au2 travel adjust: +46, -46
Set Norm throttle curve back to 0-25-50-75-100 , and Idl 1, 2 = 100 flat
