That's him! That's the guy! He's single handedly ruining the hobby for us all as these mall buying "fliers" show up at the flying field and want us to show them how to do all those "tricks". I hate when the non-flying public lumps me in with those silly mall toy fliers. Wow how I dislike salespeople. They ruin every major purchase I try to make. Car/appliance/radio control.

A salespersons job is to get you to buy. Being the buyer requires research on your end. Anyone with 1/2 a brain can see past a snowjob. As far as dealing with the LHS most flyers know who's a pilot and who is not.

Dont bother with salesmen,if a product costs $700 over a cheaper item at $100 it obviously has to be six times better than the cheaper unit. This is a logic well used in this hobby, who needs to review anything

"Brand X flies like a turd...but Brand Y (his brand) flies awesome!"

We had a guy come to one of our fun flies with a mobile hobby shop. He started pushing a particular brand helicopter and wanted to make a couple of guys "reps" if they would buy this awesome brand of helicopter and get parts that were only available from him at his website. One guy did, and became a "rep". His rep status entailed that he got a 20% discount on all orders from the vender guy, but get this, instead of free shipping over 100$, he now gets to pay the shipping, which in most cases, negated his real savings as a rep. The vender really pushed this particular brand of european heli and it ended up being a piece of crap. The head was machined 1mm too long on one side, causing horrible vibes, the geometry of the elevator servo was bad and you had to shim it to get it to fit, the aluminum was weak and stripped way too easily and the list goes on. I am now very apprehensive about guys "blowing smoke" about certain products. One can find objectively what they need by skimming the intended products' forum here on RR for a few minutes.

It was interesting that he targeted the Align flyers but left the Mikado flyers alone.

ALL Reps are salesmen

I learned the hard way.

The better salesmen are "nice enough". They are not too slick and not too rough. Always ask,"are you a rep?" If the answer is yes...... Walk. Look at the by lines here on RR.

But reps have a good side. They know all of the issues with the product and have contact with the manufacturer. If your having issues, seek these guys out. They are having the same problems and if there is a fix, they know what it is.

If you are BUYING, they are probably not the go to guy.

Just my two cents

CHEERLEADERS

Now these guys are truly less than useless. They are not reps, but....... WOW. What ever they are cheering for is by far the best, if not superior to all others!

These guys are easy to spot. If you mention an issue with there product, they'll ask you, what you are doing wrong.

I tend to review everything i buy that is a big item purchase and use multiple sources. Many times the most expensive does not mean enough to cough up twice as much.Joe said, this or Jack said that can be very misleading, especially if manuals are involved
