FRANKFORT, Ky. — A departure ceremony is planned for 565 Kentucky National Guard soldiers who will deploy to Africa for nine months.

Maj. Gen. Edward W. Tonini, adjutant general for Kentucky, will attend the sendoff ceremony Friday at the Frankfort Convention Center for soldiers assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 138th Field Artillery. The soldiers will deploy to the Horn of Africa where they will work to promote regional security and stability.

The Lexington-based unit, which completed tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, is the most decorated in the Kentucky National Guard.

Is it me or are we the world's police? We don't have any money and we are continuing sending troops abroad.
It ain't you!

What is it with our government? We refuse to protect our own border because of the massive pandering to the illegals, yet we freely send troops to any rathole at the drop a hat!!!

I'm sick of this crap coming from our own government. If I were in charge, I would use our troops to secure our borders and tell the UN: "Oh, by the way, I'm having all your office furniture shipped to an empty warehouse in Somalia. You guys need to get over there as quickly as you can so you can set up your new United Nations headquarters. All the fancy dining and housing you now have here in NYC are off limits. Your two bit visas for the USA have been reapplied to Somalia. Bye bye now."

I believe the real reason we have not locked up our border to Mexico 100% is due to the fact we get the 2nd most of our oil from Mexico.

Are you implying illegals are greazy?

Beats the heck out me. I can't understand why any government official would not be jumping up and down to protect our border.

Mexico is now building their own wall on the border with Guatemala.
The Inter-Press Sevice (IPS) is reporting that the head administrator of the Mexican Superintendency of Tax Administration, Raul Diaz, has confirmed that his government is building a wall in the state of Chiapas, along the Mexican/Guatemalan border.

The official reason is to stop contraband from coming into Mexico, but as Diaz admitted: “It could also prevent the free passage of illegal immigrants.”

According to Mexico's National Commission on Human Rights, 500,000 people from Central America cross into Mexico illegally every year.

Just as Mexican authorities have opposed the construction of a fence by the U.S., along our border with their country, Mexico is now receiving a great deal of criticism from the Guatemalan government.
