Hi Guys,
About 3 years ago I bought a new Align Trex 600 ESP kit, a new Align 600 Programable 3G Flybarless System, A new Thunder Power 5000 mah 6s lipo battery, a new Spartan DS760 Gyro, a new Futaba S9254 servo, and a new Spektrum DX7 radio. I also Bought a new Real Flight Simulator, which I have upgraded as they became available.
My experience is limited to small & medium size coaxials, lots of practice on the simulator, and a minimum of practice with medium size , non coaxial size helis. With the exception of the simulator, all the 600 equipment has been sitting on the shelf until now.
I need some advice on how to get started:
1.Should I begin the build using the flybarless system, or not?
2.Should I use the battery I bought, or upgrade to begin with?
3.Should I use the motor that is supplied with the kit, or
upgrade to begin with?
4.Is the DX7 OK to at least begin with?
I don't forsee ever getting into 3D flying, just no appeal to me
now. I may however get into a scale conversion as that looks really neat to me.
I really appreciate any and all suggestions you can give me,
Thank you!

The DX7 and stock motor will serve just fine. Tuning, whether FBL or flybared always requires matching to your skill level. If you can, hook up with an experenced flier in your area. Some readers of this post will undoubtedly pitch their favorite components but what you have now will work well. Waco

Everything except maybe the packs is fine, and it is really your choice on the FB vs FBL issue. Mechanically the FB route has more parts, and thus setup issues, but the 3G has to be setup really right, or it will cause problems. In flight, you probably won't see a whole lot of difference at this stage.

The packs being 3 years old could be a problem, particularly if they were not stored properly. If it were my heli, I'd go ahead and spring for new packs just to be safe.

As rcflyerheli said, batteries could be a problem. Shelf Life of lipos is 4 years from date of manufacturing.

Need some help please, feedback

Helli 770, rcflyerheli, and WACO.
Thank you all for the feedback. I was a little concerned about the battery. Do you recommend another 6s, or should I go to a 8s, or?
I have a Hyperion duo so charging should not present a problem. Thanks again,

I use 6s packs with my 550 Gaui and motor and packs stay cool enough for sport flying. Hyperion batteries that I use in My 450 helis so far have worked well with no puffing or noticeable loss of power but I never drain beyond 50% capacity. Waco

I don't think there is a stand alone 8s pack setup. I suppose you could go with a 2s + a 6s, but my 600 ESP runs fine on a straight 6s.

If you are running the stock motor and pinion, 8s would be too much, anyway. I haven't looked at the 3G specs in a long time, I'm not sure the regulator can take that high voltage.

If you are going to run the stock motor, and I assume it is the 600M, I'd put in the third bearing block. My original motor shelled itself at 10 flights before I installed the third bearing block. You will either have to get the KDE main shaft extension or get an original 600E shaft. The earlier 600E kits came with the third bearing, but they changed when they went to the ESP designation. Without the helical pinion and main gear, there is a lot of side load being placed on the motor bearings. When I had my problem< I added the third bearing block and changed to a Scorpion motor.

I would suggest making a trip to Carson flying field and get help from the best. Look for Big Bob or Darren and you can't go wrong. We all need expert help to get going. Pack the car with all your stuff head to the flying field on the weekend and you'll never look back.

3DmanA1, thank you for the suggestion, sounds like great advice. The only problem is that I have no idea where Carson flying field is located. I live in north San Diego county, Ca.
If it is anywhere close to me I,ll head that way this weekend, thanks again, RobertM.
