Got everything ordered. Here is what I ended up going with:

600EFL Pro Combo
AR7200BX
WR Hercules Super BEC
Nano-Tech 6S 3300 (X2 12S) <--EDIT
Everything else stock.

Being my first heli I am learning a lot. Totally a different world from giant scale gas and turbine. Can't wait to get it put together!

Sorry thought it was a given that I was going to run 2. Just realized that the older 600's were 6S.

So yes I am running 2x 6S 3300. :-)

Bit confused! So you've flown gas and turbine giant scale helis? How is this then your first heli?

Are you wanting to get into 3D flying?

Were you planning on taking your first 600 heli out and flying it?
Have you flown anything else? You might want to consider getting something a little smaller and a sim and put the 600 on a shelf and admire your work untill you feel a little more comfortable. It's just amazing how fast a 600 can move and can take your head off before you knew what happened.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day

I think the op was referring to fixed wing giant scale and turbine. If that's the case, be prepared to un-learn some of what you now do, like that little bump of down elevator when inverted whilst rolling. I'm trying to get past my block on flying backwards right now

"Whadda ya mean "There's a loose nut behind the transmitter!"?"

Ah fixed wing! Feel free to crash the 600EFL into the ground frequently if you have the money to support giant scale turbine and gas fixed winging!

Ok to clarify my background, I have been flying airplanes for 25 years. Of that I have been flying planes and helicopters on simulators since Dave Browns original sim from the 90's.

Through the years though I never really had the heli bug. I liked flying giant scale aerobatics and eventually turbine models. That and being in the hobby with my Dad who was not interested in helis didn't help. Especially since he was the main stream of money for the models.

Well last year I found out that I had an neighbor that was into helis. He wanted to take me to his field so I of course went. There he set me up on the buddybox with his 450. I found it very easy and was doing just some easy figure 8's, nose in hovers as well as side in. I am not sure what is supposed to be difficult yet but according to him I did pretty well. Well enough that my subsequent flights were without a buddy box attached.

That planted the seed. I really liked it, though out of fear of cracking up his machine, I never did anything too over the top. What really set the hook for me was when he brought over the MCPx. That thing is fantastic! Aside of learning how to keep the tail from blowing out I was really impressed with it. Finally had a heli that I could throw around and cut the grass with.

Now I am in no way trying to say I am an extraordinary pilot. But I can say without hesitation that simulators are worth their weight in gold! I feel the positive transfer from simulator to helis is 10 fold more than for airplanes.

The advancement in electronics and battery technology also played a large roll in my leap into heli's. I don't fly with glow fuel anymore but I do have all the chargers needed for 6S packs.

Anyway, really excited to be here even though it took 25 years.

That's a heart warming story, glad you like helis. If you can ride a bicycle backwards you'll be doing 3d in no time, orientation is all in the mind.

I get forward flight and screwing around inverted. But when I watch videos of guys doing hardcore 3D iI am about clueless. iI can see the rudder input but the right stick inputs are foreign to me. All in time.

One of the hard things that I see plank guys having issues with is having to constantly use the rudder and throttle with the cyclic.

I understand what you are saying. I think that is where the sim helped me out the most. So far I have been able to disconnect the plane habits when I fly the heli. I am not sure if it's right but right now I fly in idle up all the time. That forces me to use the left stick differently than when I fly fixed wing.

When you practice on the sim, do some emergency bail outs and hit the throttle hold switch. If you know that you can't avoid going in, hitting the throttle hold as quick as possible can lessen damage.
