Guys I know it's part of routine maintenance but please inspect your ball links on your older birds. I have taken my tiger out of storage and found the majority of links having stress fractures along the base where they thread on the rods! Some cracks where short, others dangerously long. They are hard to spot, so take your time looking them over....

I had two Tiger 50's and they both came with ball links that were useless. I had to replace every one of them with Thunder Tiger and Rocket RC because they cracked so easily. Back when I brought up the subject some agreed they had the same problem while others swore they never had an issue. If you found a couple, there will be more. I'd suggest you replace them all now.

This is good advice. We reformulated the plastic in the links between Tiger and Tiger MkII (which is also what Panteras have always had). This based on complaints for which we could identify no rhyme nor reason. Reformulating to reduce fiber content seemed to do the trick. Meanwhile, the ProLinks have no fiber whatsoever in the mix, they're straight nylon instead of nylon 6,6 and are very smooth.

I do a tug test during pre-flight and a visual. I'm not sure if I'd pick up this issue. To date I've not found any parts broken on pre-flight that weren't previously broken due to a mishap.

Oh you'd notice these. The socket simply cracked so keep checking as part of your preflight.
