I just had the same problem, I build a brand new 450 pro 3gx kit and over used lock tight and to much torq on the tail grip bearings, one had just a slight bump in it and it was very slight, but that was all it took, I could go from 0 to a 100 and tail would not hold or wag much, change tail grips out and the tail holds rock solid, it's crazy such a small thing made so much trouble for me, so if it's not very smooth and you get any kind of catch when you remove the tail rod from tail servo that's your problem, good luck.

Channel 7 is the only channel for the gyro gain if using sats. Must have a 7 channel TX

I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D

I've seen this a few times - bad tail grip bearings. The 450 3GX kits came with some bad bearings in the tail grips that will fail almost immediately. Take a look at them and let us know if that's the issue.

I've also seen this from loctite in pivot joints.

Make sure you have the ball on tail servo all the way in. I use one of the wheels, and closest in hole.
Make sure you have zero friction on the tail pushrod. With the pushrod off of the servo, it should be silky smooth.

bad bearings pretty much are a problem from spoolup - worse at higher headspeeds so it'd be worse at the start of the flight.

That description almost sounds like a bad servo.

I personally recommend replacing the wire pushrod with a CF pushrod on the 250 and 450 since the wire pushrod flexes so much on this size heli. That won't solve a wagging/hunting tail at hover though.

Farley... I had the same problem, but I was using a FUtaba 9CHP 72mhz radio and no matter what I did, the wag was still there....until....

I figured out that they gyro gain adjustments I was making were not being sent. The gyro gain was "INH" or turned off in the transmitter. I changed the setting and immediately the tail was solid with NO WAG. I'm not sure about your transmitter, but check to see if your gyro settings are active.
