I figured they must have one hell of an environment to live in with all the exhaust heat and all.

So how often do you guys disassemble the exhaust and regrease them?

Before every flight and then again after. I use a pressure washer, and then lube it with cooking oil!

Olive oil, Canola oil, or Mineral oil???

Aawww I have been looking all over for some flight line and left handed screwdrivers. Now I have to worry about muffler grease!

I like to use pea nut butter every 50 flights. You may need a bolt stretcher to aid in removal .

Use prop wash to clean the muffler bearings.
Then use a wind sock to dry it (regular socks won't do the job).

Just another reason I fly electric! I lost a muffler bearing while cleaning them and it was a 6mo wait for a new one. They were on triple back order.

That's hardly a reason to fly electric. Have you tried sourcing a muffler bearing for one of those yet?

It all depends. Are they regular muffler bearings, or power assisted?

I use lithium grease, but then I don't want to start a whole battery vs. nitro thing

Now, bumper hinge oilers... that is another story...

I grease my muffler bearings when I change the magic smoke in the rx bats. I will check the grease level in the muffler bearings when I check the calibration of my negative altitude indicator.
