Sure
You can do that but why? There are regulators on the marked designed for this very thing and much cheaper. Spektrum makes it.
VR5203.

I believe your diagram is how this inline step-down works

http://helidirect.com/align-51v-two...ator-p-7099.hdx

This is what I use on my 700n with a futaba tail servo on it.

well. I once tried that little blue bec on a 600 while setting it up, and it would cause brown outs.
I also saw someone attempt to fly a 550 with it and it was failing as well.
its one servo should work but for 6 buks you have what alot of guys are using and works well. (My link above)

If you already have a 10 amp BEC....No way one servo is going to strain it and no way it will cause any power problems with the RX...Since the RX doesn't get power from it but supplies it power instead.

Go for it.
I can't see any possible problem with it.

I literally never use the word literally right.

Not a possibility here.
The RX powers the BEC...Not the other way around like yours was no doubt.

His system is unregulated.

The BEC is just a heavy duty step down in this caes.

To the OP...

Don't forget to Castle Link that BEC to set your voltage.

Western Robotics "Titan" is also another option for such things

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

i thought that align step down only brought it from 6 volts down to 5.1. I have read they(and other step downs) only drop .8-.9 and if they are getting 8.4 you'll still have 7.5-7.6. Is this not correct then?

Most step downs drop it one volt.

The BEC he's using has a completely programmable output though.
