700 E
The new HV servos work extremely well - I've got a few hundred flights on a set without any issues.

The head block is designed to clamp tight around the mainshaft. I have only ever had one work a little bit of slop into itself – and some red loc-tite between the shaft and head block fixed it. It’s something I noticed on the bench, and not in flight. This is the same DFC head that has been available for a while.

The fixed motor mount might be an issue if you want to use different brands of motors. Using the stock setup, everything works perfectly. The 530KV motor provides an enormous amount of power. I don’t think you’ll feel the need to swap out to anything else.

Keep in mind the model was designed as a complete 3D-ready package. Align has another 510KV motor for a more tame setup. If you’re looking to use another brand of motor, you may be into an aftermarket mount as well.

CBell, Is there any signs of slop on the servos. How you grade then against Futaba BLS 255 etc.

Nice to get some facts, thx Colin. Question then is it a tolerance thing why red was needed to secure headlock better and that's rectified now or should one just do it from get go? Also any chance on showing how tray locks itself in place?

I can't speak for the new Align servos coming out but I have Savox 2271SG cyclics on my E7. They are ridiculously fast and have an amazing amount of torque. The only downside to them is that, on my set, I have a very small bit of play in each servo. With a servo arm on, we are talking not even 1mm of movement at the ball. Really not much, but unfortunately, fully installed and set up on a 90 sized heli, it translates to slop(or a sloppy feel) throughout the entire head. It still flies great, I just don't like the slop. I've always heard that Align servos are rebranded Savox's. Either way, I will be going MKS servos on my V3 when it gets released.

Replaced head with kde to get proper pinch on shaft to avoid head bobble in hard transitions. Adjustable motor mount to use variety of motors and pinions and to set mesh more accurately. Also 3rd bearing block and extra stiffners to avoid stripping of gear.
All of which not really needed.

When something takes away a problem I consider it needed and not just bling or an option, each to their own. Point is being missed il still try one but continuing buying same "extras" from KDE becomes extra money to account for in cost upfront period.

The only one on your list that you may have needed is the head block but I have never heard of such a problem. Like you say each to their own.

Odd read lots of posts on it, seen it, even Colin bell stated he was putting red in head to contact shaft go figure.

The head also has two bolts which screw through into the main shaft, I don't see how it could move on the shaft and if it does it would be so slight I doubt it would affect flight. I have opened the slot up in the head block in a crash, could this be why you have seen and read about this problem?

Seems the only difference are the servos (HV BL instead of DS). Makes a big price difference (the top combo is 300€ more expensive).

No signs of excessive slop in the servos. Like any servo, they wear to a point and then stop. However, they seem a little bit tighter than the 610s after numerous flights.

Out of several Align models, I've only ever had to red loc-tite one rotorhead to the mainshaft. There's no way I can sit here and say no one else has ever had an issue either. Fortunately, if you do experience it, a little bit of red or green loc-tite eliminates the problem completely. I've had to do this on other brands of helicopters in the past as well.

The battery tray setup is shared between the V2 and the DFC model. There is a push button (which looks similar to a household door latch) at the front of the frame that locks/releases the aluminum battery tray.

I'm thinking of getting just the airframe to replace my v2 dfc. Grand Rc always tends to part out the combo...I might just buy it from them.

Yea I would like to do that too. My V-2 setup as HV now with DFC so all I need are the frames and center blocks from the V-3 and I am good to go.
