Marriage is between a Male and a Female. Nothing more, nothing less. Believe what you want.
Says who? The same people that founded this land that kept slaves?
Whats that got to do with it?

Its unlikely those slaves were gay.

Am I the only one who is getting tired of all this talk about gay marriage?

What I want to know is how do they decide who's giving and who's receiving? Is this a common argument in a gay couples relationship? LOL

Eagle, I have no idea what your post meant, not sure if you did either. Let me explain - Jefferson was stating that there will come a time when men will come to their senses, rationality will prevail and the christ story will be seen as the myth it really is just like the thousands of other myths throughout history.

In fact the christ myth has parallels to SO many other EARLIER myths (virgin birth, savior of the world, performed magic tricks). Again I'll ask you, please open a book that isn't 2000 years old. Religion is like shackles that chain you to ignorance. Crack a book and break your shackles.

By the way Jefferson wasn't a 'christian' in your sense of the word. He actually wrote his own bible (The Jeffersonian bible)and stripped out all of the magic tricks that christ was purported to have performed. He thought he was a teacher and not of divine origin, as if anyone could be.

Speaking for myself, I would encourage everyone to read that sucker and make up your own mind instead of listening to some guy/gal that is blind and intolerant.

BTW: "Shackles" is something used against your will.

A belief in God/Bible is ones own decision. Hardly against your will.

That sounds perfectly rational.
Unfortunately....arguing with the irrational....is irrational.....they will never get it.

Most of the "Christians" in here are really just posers and fakers...they "might" see the inside of a church once or twice a year....if that.....The truth is...they use their Christian "faith" as a front just because they think Gays are "icky".

I at least have a little respect for Graybeard, Helicopter, and to some extent....Mr. Erb......at least they stick to their plan and dont preach violence (at least from what I've seen) unlike many (not all) of the so called "Christians" that grace these pages.

I completely agree, but the problem is that this is hardly ever the case. Most people who read the Bible are introduced to it by someone with a predisposition to believe what is written in it.

So your argument is "Christians hide behind their faith to excuse their hatred of homosexuality"?

What if I said that "You hide behind your sexuality to excuse your hatred of Christianity"

See the point I'm trying to make? Each statement is just as ignorant as the other. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for equal rights. But trying to justify your beliefs and actions by badgering someone else is silly.

Jefferson Was :
Clearly labeled by those that surrounded him in his life . He was Identified as an Apostolic : and he carried it too his death bed.

Consider in his belief to be a Heretic or a abomination for writing his own Bible : Decide to re- write on his Rules'

Actually he was looking for something he never found -
Many also believe "He Never Found It" -- Either

It literally created havoc but he made President ! and on the Money
Career was SHORT !!!! Because of it.

The Deadly Apostasy !!!!!!

You can read a bit about in In what some call the Book of Dyno-Mite !
Last book prior to Revelation's. It's a short read with Explosive content !

Here's a sample :

For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Sorry FLin Friend: You keep Gob smaking with that foaming stuff all over your self : Grind on your AMERICAN HISTORY : Go to the Source and not various misleading commentaries

Yeah, and you see everything wrong with that.

I don't.

Ones that don't buy into the Bibles teachings certainly are not going to promote it or encourage others to read it. Look what you did, and then completely reversed yourself in the very next post.

What would you expect?

Both ways?

I'm having a hard time understanding your point. In your first post, you say "I would encourage everyone to read that sucker and make up your own mind" and in the second you imply "the only people that should read the Bible, are the ones predisposed to believing it."

Seems contradictory.

Never said that.

How can you beleive in "The Book" until at least you read it?

Is that possible?

I suppose it is if you are blind as a bat or to young to know the difference.

Actually....what I said (or tried to say) was that some people are using their "christianity" to justify their own issues with homosexuality. A true christian does not judge. A true christian does not hate....they let God determine that.

Your analogy was spot on....it would be highly hypocritical of me to believe that way. For the record......I truly do not "hate" christians.....I may not believe in their beliefs but that certainly doesnt translate into "hate". I dont "know" anyone in here with the exception of Dennis and even though our "politics" differ immensely....I still consider him a friend. I cant "hate" anyone I dont know....even Esco....

Understand.

But, where in the rule book of raising children does it say "parents should not introduce their children to the bible"?

You see, if parents make the decision to take their kids to church and start introducing them to the bible and God's word or words, you cannot say that is wrong because eventually, they will be adults and either choose to continue their beleifs or walk away from them.

I just don't see that anyone can say that and be at least somewhat rational in a discussion.

I see that here all the time. Seems rather ridiculous to me.

You are a radical religious nutjob promoting genocide of an entire group pf people because your bible tells you so, same as a radical muslim.

Because of that, your views on this subject and many more, don't have any rationality in today's world, or any other world except in your own mind.
