That part is simply an accent trim piece. The name badge on my car is held on by double stick tape as well. I wouldn't sweat it too much. Put it back in place with another piece of double sided tape and go back to enjoying your radio.

You did not see very well. The plastic plate is still here, but you can see the double Stick tape through it. At the very beginning I thought it was a plastic film to protect it but it is inside to stick the plate and it is ugly. Each time I take my radio I just see this tape!!!

Mine had a piece of plastic covering that part. Once removed it looks like a mirrored finish on mine. I cannot see through it. I've held it at a variety of angles and up to strong lights. Looks like a mirror on mine.

It looks like yours made it thru QC w/o being chromed. the only 18mz that I saw had it chromed also.

Oh.....I see.......I couldn't tell due to the clarity of the plastic piece without the chrome coating.

Hobby Services will absolutely make that right for you. Call them and ask to speak to Krysta Hunt. She'll get you taken care of right away.

It would appear to me that the chrome coating has been removed or something. Definitely not the norm.

Certainly there is a self chroming function in the programming. Maybe it can snap a picture of another radio and clone from the jpeg.

Good one, Doc.

Maybe it is Wonder Woman's radio with accents to match her jet plane.

Thank you for yours inputs. I (and my friends)were very surprised that Futaba has accepted such a design on this radio. I have sent a mail to Krysta and I hope that she will be able to help me...
I will have to explain it around me because here, everybody wants to see my T18 and each time I have the same comment: "what is this ? It is ugly!"

Wait and see...

Well, here's another way to look at it. The accent piece when done as it was intended is a nice touch or the radio. By having it on there as it is, it can be easily replaced if it ever gets scratched up or damaged. I don't think anyone questions the fact that the part should have had the chrome finish on your radio. Having it mounted with double stick tape just isn't an issue or an indcation of substandard quality. I would bet you would not have even thought about how it was mounted had your part not been transparent. It'll be sorted out in short order.

you have something unique, like a flawed/mis-struck coin. Even more valuable hehe!

Wish I could afford one, but tbh I'm so happy with my 8FGH I don't know if I could give up my wubbie

Of course the way it is stuck is completely fine for me, and it seems to be very well stuck. The only issue is to see it so much with the small air bubbles between the tape and the plate. Once it will be fixed and the tape hidden(thanks Krysta who already promised me to send me the correct part) it will be perfect for me. I just love this radio so much, I want it to be very nice...

I understand. If the radio cost just $10 I would still want to right. Krysta handled it just like I was betting she would.

Of course, you could always keep it like it is and sell it as a limited edition collector's item in 5 years .
