If the 300X is anything like the mCPX, it will make a great trainer!

They are crazy for making these helis.

Those markets are saturated.

They should have made brushless MCPX with the bling...some sort of special edition for 250 bucks or so. With 2x 300mah 30c packs, 2 sets of bullet blades and a few spares

That would have made a killing.

That 500x looks pretty nice. I would obviously be concerned about the quality, especially the servos and electronics. If this turns out to be a high quality, flybarless, ready to fly 500 then I would actually consider it. I won't be a beta tester though. I do think they'll bring out an upgraded mCPX, hopefully brushless RTF. I'll be all over that.

+2. Belt drive? Maybe they should just stick with improving their small stuff.

I always liked the 300 size for backyard flying, the 300 belt drive is what the original Blade CP pro should have been back in the day instead of those pain in the azz burn out quick tail motors

$899.00 for a 500 ??

All i can say is the thing better fly itself for having a plastic head and tail and costing almost 900 dollars thats crazy

Did you mean to do that? Yeah its called a crash landing its a new trick

I think E-Flite is going the wrong way. The 500 heli they are getting ready to bring to market is not of the quality and sophistication that most of today's $900.00 birds are. They should stick with smaller, beginner style helis. Alot of us got into R/C helicopters using E-Flite stuff but then you outgrow it. They will never be competitive in the higher end heli stuff. So sad, so much money wasted when they could sell a bunch of brushless MCPX's and belt drive SR style heli's.

Agree this is a bad idea by e-flight. But, they will sell tons of them. Imagine the profit on parts they are going to make as beginners upgrade from the 400 and 450 to this.

The Flybar'd version Blade 500 3D is about the same price range as the plastic/belt super combo Align 500 KX017014 - so I give them that. Comparable heli at a comparable price.

but the full boogie Align 500EFL with shaft driven tail and all metal head/tail is about the same price as the plastic/belt Blade 500X. Almost makes me wonder what the cost of buying the 500 3D then converting it to a BeastX would be. $300 cost difference in the kits is probably about what it'd cost to convert the 500 3D but you'd have a pile of extra parts such as the single axis gyro. Horizon seems to be a bit off on the price of the 500X just based on that in my view. Really too bad they didn't at least put metal blade grips on there. Not that they fly better (MA Stratus anyone?) but at least it'd help justify the $300 hike over the 3D. Sure do wonder if they considered a shaft drive for the tail (again, not that it'd fly better = Mikado, just help justify the cost)

The 300X looks interesting. Might be able to do the stuff we all tried to get our Blade CP's to do 7 years ago.

But I will say this, if the performance is even close to each other the support Horizon offers vs. Align might really be worth the price of admission.

Tell you what. I have been considering getting a Gaui X5. The full house X5 with the beastX is only about $750.00., and I know it would fly the pants off of this plastic wonder. If you have ever seen an X5 fly you would know what I mean.

So no brushless mcpx? How stupid is eflite? Like Carlos said that would have been a big seller...

Disappointed to say least..

IMO A BL Mcpx would deviate from their marketing plan as being safe for indoors and being durable.

Um well you market and clarify it as "advanced" pretty simple really...

Look at how many are buying the after market BL goods you'd have to be damned blind to not see the opportunity there IMO.

I agree ,it is a missed oppurtunity for them not to release an upgrade kit for the mcpx.

what has me concerned is the bnf 500 how many will fly it out of the box.

most of us know to check for loctite, but for noobs seems risky to me

$900.00 for a 500

i just saw that the 900 dollar combo is RTF with a DX6i and without it its only 600 still i think a bit high for the quality but at least i didnt almost have a stroke contemplating buying it anymore

Did you mean to do that? Yeah its called a crash landing its a new trick

when you break down the parts in the kit it's 239$ for the all in 1 RX
which is not a bad deal for a RX and a beastX and the balance is the kit with servos, esc and motor + blades

overall IMO not bad as for prices, very on par with whats out there
