I wish they would redo the dx-8 with this screen/software and antennae. I really don't need 18 channels

All the people insisting they don't NEED 18 channels, maybe you need to build a scale heli, or perhaps a turbine powered aircraft. There was a fellow over in the Scale forum not too long ago who went through his existing 9-channels and still had stuff to control.

Note that when the usual Spektrum vs Futaba argument cranks up, one of the BIG selling points for the 8FG i that it is REALLY is a 14-channel radio. No one ever seems to say "gee, I don't NEED 14 channels if it comes from Futaba. I guess I don't see anyone saying the Futaba 18MZ is useless because it has too many channels.

This thread seems to be turning into another Spektrum vs Futaba thread, only now the tack is S-Bus is better than X-bus or vice-versa.

My guess is that both manufacturers' radios will work just fine for their intended uses and people will just find other things to nit pick with.

On the plus side, it doesn't look like the DX6i or DX8, the styling is cleaner and less "toyish" looking. The fixed position antenna seems to be another plus, those bend-in-the-middle di-poles that have been on transmitters up to now have a short life as the hinges break very easily.

Dood: Now that said, who wants to use 512 resolution for anything other than kill switches, LED's and flaps?
Why is the german version named DX10 ?
DX18 is really a 10 channel radio with 8 extra 512 resolution channels with vairable latency, exactly the same as the DX10.
Ingnorant people will think it's a 18MZ a bit cheaper.

I would assume simply to give the 2 radios distinctly different designations. This most definitely going to reduce confusion especially on forums.Ive already seen instances of confusion between DX7 and DX7s.
There really wasnt any way around that one though.
While the DX10t and DX18 appear to be the same radio in a different body there could likely be subtle differences in the features.

What does it matter if the other 8 channels are 512 resolution. Surely 10 channels at higher resolution are plenty for primary controls. I was thinking about getting the new JR XG11 but as they will not be producing any powersave receivers I will be buying the DX18

Another added twist is that if you use it with a 12 channel Rx you actually get 12 full resolution channels. You can still use the x-plus to get the remainder of the channels as well.

I think you are wrong...
with the 12ch receiver you still have 10 channel full resolution, you need the X8-PLUS to get 12 full resolution channel.

X=Plus channels are all 512.To get control surface resolution you need to get the output from a 12 ch Rx.
I guess if you want to confirm this you will need to search a forum more dedicated to this radio.

Its not quite all that simple but the premise is sound.I am correct.
