XFC contest from the SRC
Congrats to Wilson and Carl, I noticed that the two top guys in last years SRC pilots noon demo contest are now competing in the XFC, that is really cool. I have always said the SRC has had a great demo contest over the years.

Looking forward to hosting another great contest this year as well, so guys start working on your skills, you know it might be a stepping stone to something else

later,
Terry

Hi Tyler

You interested in being a part of our noon demo program. We are always looking for ways to make it better. We will have a selection of music but as Weldon said, if someone has their own particular music selection by all means please bring it.

We have a number of contest every year for everyone to enter. Last year we added a MCPX contest that was pretty cool and again will feature it this year.

Got some new ideas for the noon demos this year as well.

Keep signing up guys we are withing 100 days of the event.

later,
Terry

Hey Tyler
They forgot to mention that first time contestants have to dance to the music while they fly too. I know you can fly but can you dance?Lol

There aren't any big heli-friendly fields in the DFW area that I know of, just a lot of smaller ones that wouldn't be big enough to host such an event. The NE Texas RC Club field was somewhat unique in the amount of space it had available.
Negative..The Ft. Worth Thunderbirds just finished a million dollar flying field that is massive with stellar space and a runway big enough for turbines. It's currently the best field in North Texas. We used to hold the Texas Heli Heatwave at the old one for years.. And Will Campbell is the vice-president of the club.. And they are very heli friendly. Will is even a field rep for Synergy and Matt Botos.

Hi Dean

We usually do have scale and I would like to see that aspect of our event expanded but I usually leave that up to Weldon, that is more his specialty

Going to give away something nice to at least one of the pilots that preregistered "probably" at the Saturday morning pilots meeting, also all those that preregister will also be given a free meal ticket to our Saturday evening cookout, so it is important to preregister.

thanks,
Terry

Hi Guys, want to know what your ideas are for the noon demo contest this year, should we open it up to the sponsors guys or leave it to the non sponsored or maybe "recently" sponsor pilots.

What is recently sponsored, well I suppose that would be a person that is just getting into the sponsored category and does not have a long list of sponsorships. Maybe just one

Would enjoy having some comments either posted or PM to me.

Non sponsored, that way we get to look at the new and up coming pilots, just my 2 cents worth. Bobby(Non Sponsored means you get nothing from anybody, fuel, blades, canopys, helicopters, radios and so forth)

As a pilot who flew last year in the "non sponsored" event that ended up having 3 sponsored pilots flying in it, I think non sponsored should be non sponsored. Like Bobby said, "Non Sponsored means you get nothing from anybody, fuel, blades, canopys, helicopters, radios, batteries, and so forth".

Well we did kind of change the name from non sponsored demo contest to 3D freestyle contest to show how more open it was going to be. But hey I heard you and I don't mind suggestions at all, I personally appreciate them as long as they are reasonable and yours appears reasonable.

The question becomes if you have enough people participating can you do both. Some people like demos some don't. I have literally seen hundreds and I always think they provide a little excitement if done in the right way. It is kind of like a dunk contest in basketball, you might have seen them many times but you never know when someone is going to bring something new to the table, for instance last year's Wilson Miller flying around the trees.

But you want to promote participation and it is sometimes difficult to know where to draw the line, having said that. This year if we get enough people we might do some kind of combination of both. Maybe 3 non sponsored guys, 3 sponsored guys and 3 XFC pro guys flying top demos after all of it. But also keeping some flight lines open at the far in for those of us that have seen a 100 demos and don't care to see a hundred and one. Again open for suggestions feel free to post them or PM them to me.

Terry,
I believe there should be a sponsored and non-sponsored demo contest. Let both groups strut their stuff on equal terms.

The sponsored pilots get the limelight all the time. I say let it be a time for the non-sponsored pilots to shine.

Some good points being made guys. I would like to say that the only reason I decided to add the sponsored guys in the contest last year was to RAISED the level of competition in the demo contest.

I mean demos are suppose to be exciting (wasn't Wilson Miller's exciting) so I wanted to bring a little more excitement to the event. But maybe we might have some combination of both

Always looking for new ideas
