Hi All...I've decided to get back into the heli hobby. I've been out of it for 8 years due to other interests,it is time to dust the machines off,(and me too), see if this old guy can still fly. I'm looking for some parts to get one of my Intrepid 60's back in the air. I need a complete tailbox assembly, if anybody has one they want to sell, let me know. I know I can buy new, and I will if I can't find one otherwise.

Not sure if Chris has any of the older tail boxes ... as he went to larger gears /gear box when the HH gyro's started to eat up the teeth on the older smaller one . I have an older one yet ..but the gears are tore up and not sure he even stocks the gears .
Good luck on finding one ... and if you are going to put a good HH gyro on it ... better get the new larger tail box

It's the larger engines that started eating up the gears...

.90's or G26's really want the Magnum gearbox installed on the back end..

Yes, unfortunately the smaller gears are no longer available, but the Magnum G/box is a direct bolt in replacement with new pitch slider and tail hub.

I was thinking about upgrading to the bigger box anyway, at some point I'm probably going to put a .70 or even a .90 in this heli anyway. I need the whole box, I never found all of it after planting it,( and it never grew back)..

Thanks Alan...Looking forward to getting back in the air again. The last time I flew was 10 years ago, I crashed one of my Intrepids because somebody on the same frequency as mine turned their radio on just as I was coming into a hover to land,... it was ugly, both the crash and the confrontation afterwards. I ordered a new radio yesterday, a JR 9503, so hopefully I won't be able to use that reason for crashing again. Maybe I'll make it to the fly-in in Mass. this year.

I have 4 output shafts and some other little tid-bits left over from mine and a hand full of stripped tail gears if you need them. First time I have ever heard talk about the tail gear problem with HH gyro ( mine was a GY601). Larry always said it was me!!!! I loved my Intrepid Gasser and would not have sold it if he would have made a belt drive for it.......

There are still birds out there flying with the old gearbox, with G23 engines. It's when they put a bigger engine in it that they need to upgrade the tail.

HH gyros came out LONG before you were tearing up gears.

Yes, you are correct on the HH. I should have been more specific, a heading hold with extremely fast feedback loop. At that time the GY601 was the fastest with a digital servo on the tail.

Why don't you guys crank out a new design gasser that is flybar less and belt drive tail. With the reduction in parts, the Bergen brand recognition along with the current demand for USA made goods the time is right.......
