Seems to me the general theme on this thread is to bash Thunder Power. I like my 1430 charger as it does exactly what Thunder Power told me it would do. No more and no less. It's a 1000 watt charger and it does it very well.

For those of you that want it to charge at 1200 or 1500 or 5000 watts or if you don't like Thunder Power........you are on the wrong thread.

If my wife had another job I'd have more Helicopters

I hope not, that was not my intention anyway. The point that is being made is that the 1430 will not give it's 1000W at above an output voltage of 33.6V (8S). It drops off that 1000W rating after that, it seems, because higher voltages require a "step up" from input voltage, and that creates a loss in the output wattage. But also, that loss in output can be avoided by charging in parallel up to 8S and get the full 1000W output from the charger.

I am a fan of Thunder Power.
I think you can't buy better batteries.
I own a 1010C have owed a 610C.
Excellent chargers for there day.

As a have said, I was disappointed because I think this charger missed the mark. And is sort of misleading being advertised as a 30AMP 14S charger.

Thanks, TheWoodCrafter

It is so ironic that you post this, when you were the one that thought, just like I did, that you would benefit from a 36V power supply. The only reason you would buy a 36V power supply is some perceived advantage you would get from using it with the charger. But, I guess TP told you there was no advantage to 36V; NO MORE NO LESS huh.

Even a Voltz 101 charger will accept a 36V input, but they don't call it a 36V charger b/c like this charger it provides no advantage over 24V

Since your post seems to point a finger at me, let me add that I did say TP makes the best batteries in the business. And that their exchange policy is second to none.

I charged 2 X 5S 6200 MA batteries on a 3010B today for the first time in series just to see if it would give the full 1000W...it does. It charges from 27A (discharged) to 24A (charged). I guess the 1430 will give a max of 22.7A at discharged 10S voltage a max of 20A (charged) at 10S voltage, 840W.

I'm charging 2 7s 4400 packs in Parallel (8800mah) with my TP1430.
I can crank it up to 30 Amps. A little over 3C, and doing a great job on them.

Yes, that's 882W max on 7S in parallel. Anything above 8S the power in output watts starts to drop, but as long as you stay at or below 8S, the charger will give 1000W or 30A whichever comes first.

Some of the guys were wanting to charge 2X 6S or 2X 7S in series for 12 or 14S charging, but at that high voltage the chargers output power drops in half...

cgbole... question for you..
(sorry to dig up an old thread!)

with the 1430, when you are charging in parallel, how are you balancing?

I can not find any balance boards that are compatible with the balance plug on the 1430 charger..

Thanks

I made my own bal connectors.. Used one of the balance leads from the board, and cut it in two. Then following the pin layout on the bal board i soldered two sets of balance leads to it.

Took two sets of bal extentions 2 6pin and 2 4 pin cut the male end off of them, and soldered them up in sequence.

I'll try to post a couple pics of it. I also used two balance boards from a 820C charger and did the same with them and the other half of the bal lead i cut in half..

There is a premade way to charge 7S batts in parallel (up to 6 of them) on the FMA PL8 right now, if you happen to have that particular charger. I believe it may be coming up for the 3010B also, but not quite available yet.

Progresive RC sells a icharger balance board that is wired for the PL8 in either TP or Hyperion. They also carry charge leads for parallel charging up to 6x's and balance adapters up to 6x's 2-7s in just about any type that plugs into that board. That's what I'm using. Works great. To use on the 3010, just swap back to the icharger lead between the board and charger.

Hey i should have said this right off the bat..
Contact Thunder Power like it says in the manual. Without saying ..
once you cut the bal leads, if you want to go back you will have to buy another balance board. Please be careful when doing any modifications. Pretty much do at your own risk.

a paraboard...
Progressive, Rc Accesory, etc. have them.....
with the output cable for an iCharger...

then plug this into the 6S slot on the stock TP board...
