It was a muddy mess todayOn the way in to the field my truck started digging trenches with the rear tires I just took it slow and steady on the throttle and it moved forward 5mph while the wheels spun at 10mph. I do have 4 wheel drive in case so its not an issue but I did warn my friend not to drive his rear wheel drive in as there is a good chance to get stuck -- I dug in a good 6 inches and if I stopped there would be no restarting unless you had a 4x4.
The grass island however was much dryer not as squishy muddy as the places where the snow melted by itself.
I did get 4 full tanks of fuel / flights in today with my gasser and everything was perfect. Warmed up to about 57F with very low winds sunshine and not a cloud in the sky.
Got away with no heater today bare hands outside until the last flight started getting chilly had dropped to 51F and I decided to cozy up inside the radio glove.
Working on those piro flipping autos I am losing it while upright trying to flip to inverted. I can do it inverted to upright no problem (which is more important for a save) but going to inverted I somehow make mistakes, freeze, and stop the rotor head just about. Had one of those moments today and had to bail out of the auto but the head speed wasn't coming up because I was paniced at full collective trying to stop a brick from falling with scattered bldes. LEARNED something from the last time, instead of panic and freeze waiting for the head speed to come up at full collective and hit the ground possibly, DROP COLLECTIVE to midstick and SACRIFICE 75% of the remaining altitude to build some headspeed and then punch the collective to bail out. It works alot better than Ahhhhh!!!
all the way to the ground full throttle full collective waiting for a draggy disk to build up speed. THAT, my friends, doesn't work as I've been there done that screamed all the way to the ground and boom struck
Yes Hillbilly, the ice you got we received as snow on two seperate occassions. But after today, all that snow is gonzo!
