If you are refering to the 2012 IRCHA Speed Cup, I am planning that for the Friday of the IRCHA Jamboree, I believe that is August 17, 2012

I will soon make the official announcement.
Free registration as last year, must be registered for the Jamboree.

Three categories:

Internal combustion engines (glow and nitro)
Electric 12S stock
Unlimited (highly modified frames, purpose designed machines, and or multi engines)

200meter course per rules last year

14S would be in the Unlimited class, even if your frame is all stock.

Off the shelf conversions of nitro kids or upgrades will be consider stock, like a RJX head, a scorpion or KDE mount, frame stiffeners, diferent tail fins...

Not Stock: Modified, Chopped, narrower or streamlined canopies, canopy rear fairings, 2 or 3 legged non-stock landing gears, 9 to 9000watt pusher or puller motors, wings, NASA rockets, or flux capacitors.

Stock does not mean your motor or engine must be stock.

If you show up with an un-muffled tuned pipe, you will better provide hearing protection for everyone, including Muncie little critters.

Like I said, I will post the official rules in the next 2 weeks.

In the mean time PLEASE ask as many queations as you like, it will help me sort out lose details.

Just brain storming here. I'm sure the "not stock" category is not yet complete, but the way it reads now, if a competitor was to have a aftermarket canopy/fusalage, other than the OEM Version, that would be considered modified.

I do agree with the rule that disallows trimming of the canopy.

As far as practice runs, is the competitor allowed to use a practice run as a qualifing timed run if he/she chooses?

If the canopy is the same shape as the stock one, or really close to the same, or bigger and is commercially available for the model, is ok.

There are obvious things I won't allow, but the point of "stock' is to allow just about any "average" helicopter to enter without much questioning.

If you show up with a stock Fury with 2 wires for main gear, you won't be stock.
If there were 3 size LG offered for the model and you opt for the smallest, you'll be ok.

What about blades? Any restrictions on them? I'm asking because I see a lot of manufacturers list 'recommended' rpm thresholds which just about every speed heli exceeds.

I don't know a lot about blades,,,but I heard that semi-symetrical blades are better for speed but they aren't made for that kind of stress,,are they?

Any recommendations on blades?

Randy,

I PM you a few suggestions.

No restrictions on RPM from my side, but to be safe, you will not be able to switch to idle up until you are up and away.
