Some how I erased my whole program for my T-rex 450XL. What makes this even worse, I didn't have it wrote down.

Ok, enough whining. Can someone share an efficient sequence for a complete setup on a green bird. It's been a long time since I've done this and I'm not so sure I did it right when I did. Also, will a flybar lock help in setup on a standard swash plate(I've never used one before) or is it only for CCPM?

It must be true if you can prove it

I have a JR 8103 radio w/ HS-55 servos.
Since I've had this mishap I've done some checking on the web, regarding seting up a new heli and I saw some techniques for setup I'm not familiar with. Such as using a flybar lock. This makes me think there are other good techniques I'm lacking. My set up techniques are probably at a novice level. I started flying helis many moons ago where they were more popular but now I live in a different part of the country where now I'm just about he only guy in my area that flies them, so not much knowledge to draw from with all the advances that have taken place.
I just need a good push in the right direction.

Well, it appears that this subject holds deep dark secrets that if any one were to tell it would jeopardize national security. Maybe it also means that every one just hunts and pecks through the set up process as I do.
Thanks Anyway.

fwiw..

No real mystery....Set every end point to 100 %..Switch on radio and rx with servo links disconnected...Set a pitch curve (hold) to linear..Mechanically center the servos best possible, then use subtrim to get them to 90 degrees....I'm assuming direction of servos are already set..

Hook up the links with pitch set to 50%...Get everything parallel to the 90 degree servo arms..swash, flybar and grips...Set all swash mix % to 75....

eyeball the swash level in pitch and roll, then use a pitch gage to set about +/- 10 degrees of pitch..
Set up the direction and throw of the t/r servo..
Add about 20% expo on aileron, elevator and rudder..

Set normal throttle curve to 0-55-75-90-100
Set Idleup 1 and 2 throttle curve to 100 85 100
Set Normal pitch to 35-50-75-85-100
Set Idleup 1 and 2 to 0-50-100

Test fly and adjust to taste...

This is obviously the Cliff Notes version, but should get you in the ballpark...Again, I've assumed all servos are set to work in the correct direction before you start...

Have fun!

John.
