I have a Nova Rossi REX 57 i'm wanting to change the shim on and try 15% nitro. What can I expect? Same power? Can I run the same headspeed? Will the engine have the same temperature? How different will the needles be on the carb?

You could run it as is, and readjust the needles for the less powerfull fuel.

Or

Drop .004in of the head if you can. The low end may be a little rougher, but the top end will be almost the same. Re needle as require.

The nitro can be view as liquid oxygen which helps the combustion occur faster, so dropping the head a little will bring back the ignition point to be the same and you wont loose much power. You could drop up to .008in, but go gradual. Too much and the engine will preignite, overheat, and is all downhill from there.

Another option is to use a slighly hotter plug, but that IMO is more like a patch than tunning option (unless you were running the wrong plug all along)

good luck

Santiago
