I remember seeing some threads on ideas for fun activities during fun flies. Do you happen to know which ones they were?

Or feel free to chime in your ideas too. Help will be much appreciated for sure on our coming event.

Thanks a lot guys!

Here are a few to get you started:

1. Bomb drop
2. Autorotation
3. Closest to the ground (inverted)

Anything else you can dream up would work too...

Best one was the Derby at the "Big Gathering". Fig 8 in tight space and going through a 10' loop every turn.

Crowd's favorite always has been something that involves crashing. I've seen people drop everything to go watch these.

It must be the "I hate to see you crash, but I don't want to miss it." mentality.

Autos and such sometimes go on without people even knowing that is going on.

There are a lot of rookie pilots on our field so it would be great to have something fun for them and for experienced pilots at the same time.

At our auto contest, the table is optional but it helps your score. Rolls and flips also improve the score. But you only get one shot. So a better pilot might go for the stunts and table and still lose out to someone that plays it safe and goes straight for the bulls-eye. We also try not to close the other flight stations.

I haven't seen one in my googling experiences but a rescue mission would be cool.
It would be very easy to make a hook apperattus out of wire coat hangers that would swivel 1 foot under a heli off another coat hanger attached to the skids at the COG. Have a Barbie doll with say a 1 foot loop on her facing up. Pic her up from one spot and deliver her to another spot. Do this as a timed and accuracy of delivery event and have ability catagories. Tests hovering skills for newbies and accuracy and speed for the experienced.
Landing shouldn't be a problem either as the wire would fold under with a simple slight forward or backward landing to fold the hook under. Could have different size hooks for each class. Even a landing pad for accuracy of landing.
Sounds more fun to me as a newbie than the obsticle courses I see that cause alot of repairs.

Friends don't encourage friends to fly helis! It can cause part shortages.

if you are worried about crash costs, an obstacle course with "caution tape",would be fun with minimal or no damage to the heli

Don't use any strings on the balloons. Things get very dangerous when the string or streamer wraps around spinning heli parts. I have seen models fly into the crowd during this event.

Better to have ballons in a release net or set free by hand one at a time.

Enjoy things that money can buy IF you don't lose the things money can't buy.
