A Stratus had always been on my list of things I would buy if I won the lottery. Now I am seeing a lot of good deals on used airframes.

How are they for sport fliers? I know my 3D ability has more to do with my thumbs than airframe. Are there any ongoing maintenance issues? How are "normal" crash costs? I always here one of the great things about MA is the ability to get parts for old airframes, how good has this been in practice?

I give up on Loctite, nothing lasts long enough to vibrate loose anymore.

I would say they're good for sport fliers. No ongoing issues, just routine stuff you would check on any heli. Getting parts for MA helis is easy. The fact that many parts are universal on their helis helps also.

The "bobby watts HR" stratus is possibly a tad too sensitive for sports flyers; the older Stratus is perfect !

Could always slow response with rates etc I suppose, or change the swash bellcranks...

Parts supply is brilliant, always has been with MA..

Love my MAs......

I am currently flying two MA Fury Tempests, which were the 90 size models from before the days of the Stratus, and I can get parts easily enough. It's a bit more difficult in the UK as there is only one supplier of spares for the 'older' MA models, but if they don't have a part, I just order it direct off MA's website in USA and wait for it to arrive.

I disagree, with a computer tx almost any bird can be set up for sport flying.
The biggest thing is that MA is quality stuff. A little more money up front, but not that much

I have a stratus and do no more then Sports flying, absolutely no issues.
The bird is stable as can be by simply toning down the rates from it's 3D setup.

Stratus is a good heli for your everyday flying. The 3D performance is superb. Regular maintenance is all that is needed.
