I have a new E7 and it seems like it's going to be a great heli, however I have one issue that detracts from a great heli.
You must remove the canopy to change batteries and the canopy is quite brittle and cracks at the posts. There has to be a better system. Is anyone using RC Booya mounts on the E7 and if so which ones can be used and how do they work? Still cracking the nice paint job?
I do like the looks of the canopy and visibility is good on clear days, but when it gets cloudy and toward evening when the wind dies down, brighter colors will be better.
Overall a great design, extremely light, manueverable and rigid. I am amazed at how rigid the heli is being so light.
I also have the 5Nc and am very pleased.
Great designs.

RC Booya make some specifically for the E6/7 and they are supposed to work great. I'm still running the stock setup but I've added some fiberglass patches on the inside of the canopy at each hole for reinforcement. Be careful using grease or silicone on the grommets...too much and it will let loose in flight!

RCBooya or just coat the inside of the stock grommets with silicone spray.

Thanks guys.

Eric, i bought a few sets of those keychains to use for a canopy mount. When i looked at eh part that woulod have threads in it for mounting to the frames, there wasn't much meat there to hold the thing on? Did you fill yours in or something? Or did my local Lowe's carry a different brand?

thanks

I just used the cheap ones from lowes with no problems using them so far. They just had a hole in the mount side and I used a 3x8 cap screw I think.

CANOPY MOUNTS

I used the same thing Eric did after he showed me and I have to say, If you take your time and file the cut off end it really looks and works great! Great Idea!

Chuck, they are not threading into the mount itself but instead using a short M3 cap screw with the head on the inside of the mount.

For the $ its hard too beat. If it wears out or you loose one it is cheap to replace. They have been solid for me and on the E6/7 a direct install.

Yep just use a cap screw Chuck. That's it. No stud.

Don't know why i was thinking of threading a capscrew in from inside the frames.. Grey hair moment i guess..
