Any X50 owners out there notice that these strutts are rediculously brittle? I've broken a few sets of these in situations that the old raptor strutts would have handled easily. I guess I'm going to have to buy some of the raptor 50 strutts and drill them to fit.

Other than that little grip, this heli is just awesome. Love the way it flies.

Never noticed them to be more brittle. However, and FYI. TT has discontinued selling the r30 and r50 struts alone. I oredered them and tower hobbies took the liberty of substituting them with the x50 struts. Called them on it an managed to get a set. You must buy the page containing struts and skid pipes.

Would it be worth trying to anneal them in boiling water? I've done this with a number engineering plastics with success. I've not built my new X50 yet, but I will be doing this knowing what you've experienced.

I think it has alot to due with the cross section. They lightened them up substantially by hollowing out the insides so they now resemble C channel which tends to be stiffer. The plastic itself also seems a little stiffer than the original skids too.

I too have just recently had trouble with my landing struts. I was flying yesterday it was about 42F(8C) and then while cleaning her off I found that both of my struts had broke on the same side. Now with that being said this is my first "real heli" as in a collective pitch one. I had a couple landings that were a bit abrupt, but not to the point that I though the struts should have broke though, upon trying to repair mine found that the plastic they were made of seemed rather brittle for the application in my opinion. I hope that the repair I made holds till i get past the learning stage of this, but I ordered a new set for a Century to fit onto her in hopes that they are a bit tougher. Any input to this problem with some other ideas would be really nice. Thanks

I have recently got a set of struts for a Century that I am going to adapt to fitting my X50. Have to do a little work on the front strut for the canopy clip to work, but other than drilling another set of holes for them I think they will be great:-D The material that they are made of is a lot softer and quite flexible compared to the OEM struts. I think they are going to work great!

If you are like me,all skids have expiration dates
So there might still be opportunity
