I had my first very short flight with my 600 3D Sunday and had to land in less than a minute. I had several bad tail kicks that stopped the tail blades it definitely sounded like something to do with the belt. After inspection we saw the tail belt was tight to the top of the belt pulley and slightly frayed on the top ( see photo)As you can see the belt is tight to the top of the pulley and when I checked a buddies 500 his was sitting correctly squarely in the center of his pulley.
Back at my shop I checked and saw there were two washers on the top of the belt pulley and instructions call for only one on the top and two on the bottom of the 600 3D so I switched them. As you can see from the picture that made no difference.
I would like to know if the two belt tension pulleys are supposed to be free moving? Mine are tight. How do you remove them? I figure that must be where the problem is.

By the was it was supposed to be my maiden flight and for at least 30 seconds it flew great! I was very disappointed not to continue but I thought better of it until I get this issue corrected. So I would appreciate any suggestions.

I'm sorry I don't know how to make the picture any bigger.

Pulleys

Belt tension pulleys should move freely. They have a bearing top & bottom that I keep oiled. You can put a flat blade screwdriver under the outer edge of the pulley & push it toward the center of the heli. Be careful not to lose the plastic spacers on top & bottom of the pulley when it comes out.

If your pulleys are tight there is a good chance that you burned a flat spot on the pulley.
This should move freely.
I had a belt get stuck on top of the pulley and within a min. of flying I knew something wasn't right and put it down right away and that's what happened to mine.
As for the washers there should be one on the bottom of the belt pulley and one on the bottom of the main gear and one at the very bottom of the complete assembly to take up any kind of play you might have on the main shaft.

It deffinatlly was the pulleys. The previouse owner must have had a tail crash and jambed the boom up into the pulleys because when I took them out there were two gashes in the outer rims of the pulleys that would have frayed the belt and because the pulleys were stuck that caused the jamming of the belt. The person I bought this Logo is reputable and many of the parts are new but just missed this one thing. E weather inn' to good for a maiden flight right now and with the Holdays closing in I don't know when I will get her up in the air. Thanks for all the help.

If the boom was jammed in there then the boom retainers are also broken.
The two tabs that get bolted in to prevent the boom from going to far forward.

Well I went out and flew it today, it was a little cold but no wind and here in Kansas that is very rare. I had the gain set to 35% as recommended. I had to reduce it to 22% (I'm using a DX8)in normal it liked 22 % it but not in idol 1. No matter how low I set it in Idol 1 I had bad tail wag. I could do a hard lift out and no problem but any rolls or flips she went crazy. Finally on second flight it threw the tail belt off the rear tail guide and I did an auto to save it only ruined a set of Edge 623, Oh cr@p. At home I checked the log and it didn't show anything bad that I could see. I have it very well grounded, the belt tensioner wheels are free wheeling. So I'm stumped.
Other than that I'm very impressed how this thing flies. I had no expo in it at all and normally I use 20% in my 550 I just didn't set anything up in it and I don't think I will. Rock steady except for this belt thing and tail wag.

I dropped the head speed to 1900 from 2200 and all the tail wag went away. she flew perfect. The belt stayed in place.
