I am helping someone setup the 3GX with remote receiver and a DX6. I know that the gyro gain is Aux 2. How do you get the gyro to change modes and gains? I know it is in rate mode as the light is red and moving the rudder the servo comes bck to center. I can't find a channel that will work. I am thinking that with the 6 channel radio you need to use the purple green blue wire with a separate receiver instead of the satellite receiver. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Chuck

Hey buddy.

Yes, you have guessed right.
To use a 6 channel DX6i you will need to use a seperate spektrum receiver so you can connect the gyro gain wire to the GEAR channel to toggle between heading hold and rate modes.

Hopefully Align on a future firmware release might allow the govenor and gyro gains to be switched channels via the software.

Thanks Ian. I don't know why they just didn't make the gyro channel 5 and gov channel 7. Anyone using the gov has a 7 channel or more radio anyways. Thanks again. Chuck.

So the DX6i and 3GX are not compatible without a seperate receiver, not including satellite?

Your welcome my friend.

My feelings are the same as yours, normally gyro gain is on GEAR anyway so why not have it that way around, with govenor on AUX2.
Hopefully they may release a firmware update in the future to fix this.

No, they bind ok but you cannot flick between heading hold and rate mode to set the gyro gain. Indeed the 3GX will be stuck in rate mode using sats, with no way to enable heading hold mode. If you could it would be ok as you could adjust the gain via the PC link.

So if you do not use a s bus, and use a DX6i, you should bring your pc with you to adjust. Once it is locked to your preference, I should be fine?

If your a 6 channel receiver you have to use use the cables that came with the 3GX so you can operate the gain on channel 5. Changing gains in the software won't help as when you power up the system it will just go to rate mode and you won't be able to switch it to heading hold. With a 7 channel radio and receiver it's not an issue using satellite receivers as you have channel 7. Chuck

You will only need a laptop pc to alter the 3GX settings, like bell, hiller rates etc. but gyro gain once wired to see signals from the GEAR channel output of the Rx can be altered using the GEAR channel ATV values.

Well, sold my Channel 6 DX6i. I didnt want to use the sbus receiver for the 3GX. I actually like not having the gyro and receiver. Too much electronics and wiring. Trying to keep it simple and clean. So with the DX7, just the 3GX and the 2 satellites.

Thanks for everyone's help!
