Im getting a HDTV this coming Sat but some say LED or LCD,what's the difference?

Also, one say's it has a 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and the other has a 90,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. What does that mean and which would be better?
Im sure i'll have a few more question's but this might help make my mind up.Here's the 2 TV's im looking at which are the same but specs are different.Which would be better for my sim and playing a game system on?

LCD: LCD display technology with a one giant florescent back light screen. The backlight is always illuminated.

LED: LCD display technology with a LED backlight. There is one LED backlight for every Red Green Blue pixel cluster. The LED backlight can be modulated to improve contrast. ie. A Black LED screen will be darker then a black LCD screen.

I suspect the 90,000:1 is for the LED TV.

I cannot comment on the reliability. I have a first generation Panasonic LCD with one blown pixel. Unless i point it out, you will never see it.

I hope this helps.

I think the main 2 types of tv are plasma and LCD. LCD have LED backlighting like the previous post said they can be turned off to help with the very dark black colors and that can help with contrast. Also an advantage to LED is some of the tv put the LEDs around the edge and that way they can make the tv thinner. LEDs are more efficient or take less power I think and less heat out of them.

Very good info on this in an earlier thread...

https://rc.runryder.com/helicopter/t619697p1/

One thing to remember, for larger TV's (about 45 inch or larger) LED's will most likely be the most expensive to buy, but least expensive on electricity to operate. I read that for power consumption, a plasma uses about 2-3 time as much electricity as a regular LCD TV of the same size. A LED TV uses about 15%-25% of the electricity that a regular LCD uses of the same size.

Gun control is like fighting drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to buy cars.

Thanks for the info guy's and my mind is set on the 40" Sceptre .The reviews are awesome and the price is perfect.

TheHud,
I posted in that thread a while back when we bought out 47" Samsung HDTV and thanks for the reminder because I forgot all about it (the thread) ..When we bought our Samsung it came with a 1 year warranty and on top of that,we bought the extended 2 year warranty.I plan on doing the same with the 40" Sceptre so if anything go's out,it's covered .
Our Samsung has been a flawless TV and I love it.It's awesome flying with the sim and I just hooked my Xbox 360 up to it with a HDMI cable..Running it on full HD I see thing's I never see before so I want a HDTV just for my PC and gaming haha .Couldn't see spending $800.00 on another Samsung just to do what I wanna do so did alot of window shopping and read a ton of reviews.Everyone say's the pic is right with their high end TV's but the sound is OK but not crappy which is fine with me.If anything,I have a extra surround sound system I can hook up which I might do anyway's.I might do a video review of it next to my Samsung and give update's every few month's as i'll be useing it everyday as a PC screen, sim and gaming.
