The Cliff Hiatt FAI head on my Fury Tempest is currently running the 0.8 flybar ratio and I think I need a bit more flybar authority to improve hovering characteristics. I've tried setting it on the mixing arms to the maximum 0.9 ratio, but I can only get about +/- 8 degrees maximum pitch before the servos stall (swash plate stalls against the washout guide pins), which is a bit low.

I usually like to run about +/-10 with +12 in throttle hold for autos.

Alternatively, I could try a longer flybar and/or lighter and/or more aggressive paddles I guess?

Any thoughts?

what if you shorten the rods to the swashplate and then shift the lengths on the other rods?

If I understand what you are saying, you're hitting the washout pins at full collective. You can offset that by lowering the swashplate position at full collective.

If you're not flying a gasoline helicopter
You're paying 10 times too much for fuel!!

Good idea.

Thanks.

Edit: - now done as you suggested and got all the pitch range I need. Simple ideas are the best sometimes. Thanks again.
