I love Phoenix 3, I do wish I could incorporate some of Heli-x's flying fields into it though. http://www.helifreak.com/album.php?...pictureid=59296

http://www.helifreak.com/picture.ph...pictureid=59500

80% of the air fields in Phoenix were photo shot on very cloudy days and I prefer bright blue sunny backgrounds.

Heli-x has some down right beautiful places to fly, the sim aint worth a clam though.

Phoenix has some beautiful flying fields too, some of my favorite fields are Desert Mesa, with all those red canyon walls of rock it makes it really easy to see the Heli all the time. Farmlard it has a bright blue sky with beautiful rays of beaming sunshine coming from the left. Montebello Castle, great high up in the mountains scenery, you have plenty of room to practice huge hurricanes with thousands of feet below to correct mistakes. The Flying Field is awesome though a little more cloudy and Seaside is nice but a little less roomy to do hurricanes but beautiful with all the sail boats in the background. Those are my favorite flying fields. I don't like the Phoenix gymn much, it has dark blue walls and makes it difficult to see the Heli's blades and attitude.

If its fixed don't break it.

I like Phoenix and have been using it for about five years. I was one of the first people in the country to use Phoenix during a time when RealFlight G3 was the simulator to own.
I've always liked how the heli models feel.

Then I got into large scale gas airplanes and started getting serious about flying them.
What I found with Phoenix is that the simulator feels NOTHING like how an airplane should fly.

Phoenix is 100% useless
for practicing complex airplane maneuvers like rolling circles flat spins and rolling circles.

If you're interested in airplanes at all, then consider a sim like Aerofly or Realflight. If not, then Phoenix might be OK.

i think realflight out of the box is the one i liked best. easy to use and flys real enough for me. other sims i had to do more tuning to fly right. but thats my opionion.

I had phoenix since the beginning as well and loved it. Sold it last year.

This year I'm in the market for a sim again, so I played around with Phoenix and G6 at the ihobby expo, and needless to say I'm getting G6. It flew MUCH better than Phoenix after flying them back to back. I had a friend try them also and he came to the same conclusion

I have both, RF up to 4.5, both do the trick and do what they are intended to do.
Cost of owner ship goes to Phoenix as updates and new versions are free.

Phoenix compared to RF 4.5, I fly phoenix and haven’t touched RF since.

Also since new versions are free with Phoenix you can keep flying with your buds online since everyone should have the latest and greatest.

I did a lot of research before my purchase 4 days ago. I chose the Phoenix for the free updates. I found 50% like Phoenix, and 50% like RealFlight. Do your homework, and go with your gut feeling.

I've flown both Pheonix and Realflight. Although Pheonix is pretty, I think the physics is much more natural in RF. I'm not as much of a fan of G5/G5.5; I think Knife Edge spent a little bit too much time trying to make it pretty and programming little things int like gear flex etc.. that screw with the overall feel of the sim. That, and the glide slope ratios for auto rotations on G5 are unpredictable and hard to manage. I can't auto for anything on G5 because there is virtually no windmilling. So, bladestop autos are immpossible. But, I shoot autos all the time on my real helis and on G3.5 which acts nearly identical to th real thing. Honestly, G3/G3.5 transalted most accurately to real flying. I actually dialed in my real helis based on G3 back in the day when I didn't really have a good baseline to know how a well tuned heli should feel. Pheonix felt flat and too much like a video game imho.

But, everyone has different expecations and requires various settings to achieve a certain feel. I don't knock those who prefer Pheonix, but it's definately not for me.

Up until RealFlight G6 came out, I would have said Phoenix but I think G6 takes the award right now.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!
