Does it run out of the box on higher nitro? Or do you have to shim the head up to get the compression down like on the .91's?

That thing was making just freaky power in your whiplash even running rich like it was...
Lessee, what do I got in here i can sell... hmmm... lol

I got a kick out of this one Bobby
Look at Watts video, 15% DONT smoke like that, and besides the engine he is running will not be the one that shows up in the box, I want the one he has with the best of bearings Etc! DS 8717 Your Right Dude! I think OS recalls are still posted out there somewhere, All of them.
It is funny to see what people think they know. LOL! I want your "special" engine man!

Guys,
Bobby's, Kyle's, Bert's, and any others that just hit field are box stock!

Fellas, its OK to be a YS fanboy (DS). I happen to be a fan of OS engines but you don't see me slamming the YS line. I'm sure that they make a nice engine. I prefer OS.
Engines do evolve. OS has done a great job of improving as any company should. They are the most popular engine so something must be working right!

It comes with .008 installed. You have to add the included .008 for a total of .016 to run 30%

Well with the last name of a woman I see how you can take things out of context, I was right when I said it wasnt 15%, and the one that shows up wont be the one Bobbys flying because they will make some changes as always through product deveoplment and testing DUH! and I will have the best bearings as I always swap them out for Boca, you talked about us slamming os but you left out the part about us slamming ys also, OH I forgot you have the last name of a woman.

If my kid was being paid to use a certain engine I guess I would attack the competition too, but then maybe I would let him speak for himself, didnt Kyle just say in a interview that nitro cant compete with electric, OOPS!

As is usually the case, folks will be bragging about the awesome power today and crying about the cost of fuel to feed either one of these tomorrow.

I suppose so but the way I look at it is, when the flight cost me $2, it was pretty good. $4, freaking awesome!!! $10...pour it on man!!!!

The whole purpose of this tread was to compare the 105 to the 120,and theres no comparision. The thread should have stated "Im shocked how much more power this 105 had than the 91". But when you go comparing 2 differnt engines this is how the thead up up,just how it was intended but one side cant take the heat.I have owned every OS helicopter engine since the 32,i go with what works the best for me at the time.........The other OS 105 thread didnt end up like this one, because it wasnt trying to compare 2 different engines....Reps are going to support their company, thats what they get compensated to do.

If anyone bothered to read the comments on the video in the OP,you'd have seen Bobby said he was running 30% nitro.

The title was just meant to say that YS is not going to be the only one with the big engine.

Most of the power in the YS120 is surplus so I expect the 105 will be plenty since the 91 is in my opinion.

i actually thought it was a kinda clever title.

i have seen the ys120 in person flown hard, and it definatley looked like it could take more loading than my hzr, but as stated, it was mostly in execess.....if such a thing is possible lol

The title implied there was a fight at hand, the other 105 thread implied theres a new Big OS coming out and wasnt comparing it to another engine. This thread went in the direction it was aimed and this is where its at. Bobby was not comparing the power of the new 105 to the YS 120,he is simply stating that that he is impressed with the power of the new engine,at least theres some valid imformation in his video and statment here (FACTS).......No doubt the 105 has a lot of power and if its built off the new 91HZ-R it will be a good engine. Now its in the hands of some good flyers and will be fine tuned no doubt.

Its very possible that this engine will be a flash in the pan, what I mean by that is OS will most likely build something closer to the size of the 120 to compete, these 2 companys always have done this, the ys has always had more power, years ago when Ray St Onge was one of the 3d pioneers he flew the ys61, Youngblood said he had to machine out the port on his OS to raise the port timing for more power to equal what Ray was flying, OS has always mass produced their engines as where YS is family owned and spends more time on each engine, but the point is OS will have to match the 120.

I understand your point. And some of what you say is accurate.
I cant comment on who makes more power. I don't have a 120. I have never even looked at one.
I can only tell you how the 105 did.

I can also tell you that the engine that Bobby and everyone else is running, is the exact same engine that you will get if you buy one.
Some seem to think that it is still in the design phase. It is not.

The reason a larger engine is better is because it has more torque, which is why electrics are so powerful, they have incredible amount of instant torque.A 120 will have more torque than a 105 even if both engines were from the same manufacturer. A longer stroke will create more torque which is what is needed, even though they call it a long stroke its still over square with a larger bore than stroke.I would say that the 120 YS on 15% has as much power as the 105 on 30%. I am not knocking the OS 105 or 91HZ-R at all they are great engines. I had an OS 91 HZ and it had great power, but it was before the R version and i stayed with th YS because of the fuel system,my YS 91 SR3D has as much power as the OS 91HZ i had.The thing about having excess power is you dont have to push the engine to its limits so it will last longer, also using 15% notro will cause less stress on the engine so it will last longer. You just cant compare a 105 to a 120,they are 2 different engines. An OS 120 HZ-R would more than likely be a monster of a motor, and i expect to see one before to long.

The problem with the long stroke is the vibration. You cant balance the thing well enough to get rid of that.
