I got it, why don't we all just ditch both OS and YS and get the Thunder Tiger 1.00? Are they ever going to make a carb that works?

Companies that build engines evolve and improve.
A new engine is not "from scratch". It involves research info derived from every engine before it.

When I was a kid,a car that hit 100,000 miles was nothing short of a miracle. Now it's not even noteworthy.

I have only run OS engines and never had a bad experience.
I'm relatively new to nitro helis and I hate to say it,but I'm not interested in any failures or hard times that came before my time.

I still believe that it is all in how you treat them. I have 6 nitro birds currently all o.s. from .50 hypers to the .55 and the 91's I have yet to go into any of them internally for any reason. just my experience.

For all you OS fan boys im not an OS hater,i used OS for years before going to YS For a few reasons,the fuel system was the main reason.When OS came out with the 91 people were having to put $100 to $150 more into them to get them right,having to send their carbs to be reworked by James Oneil So they would run consistantly.After OS finally copied james modification they got the new regulated version runing right but at a hefty price.But thats alright people didnt mind putting another $150 in a new motor to get it to run right.BS on all the i ran my OS for 3 years and never did any thing to it and it has the same power it had when it was new...If you like OS thats fine but dont think the new 105 is new king of power because its not.And all this speckulation about Bobby watts using 15% and the OS is set up for 15% is BS and non fact or as you say a rumor with no facts to back it up.If you want to talk sh!t you need facts to back it up not I heard.........Lets look at the OS 50,the eat bearing and the customer had to do his own modifications to get more like out of the bearings.Then theres the pistons blowing holes in the top because OS machined the piston to thin to lighten so it would run smoother.Then theres the imfamous 91 that never got right untill version 5,and it took OMI to show them how to fix it right.So OS didnt answer anything with the 105,its not the YS 120 killer you make it out be,better than a 91 yes better than a 120 Not hardly...

Look at Watts video, 15% DONT smoke like that, and besides the engine he is running will not be the one that shows up in the box, I want the one he has with the best of bearings Etc! DS 8717 Your Right Dude! I think OS recalls are still posted out there somewhere, All of them.

It doesnt take a rocket scientest to know a 105 wont make as much power as a 120,just a little common sense.....And a OS rep surly wouldnt talk up a product and make it out to be more than it really is just to sell a product for their sponser...

My comment was not in regards to power.

I don't see any reps here pumping up either of the 2 brands, comments were made by people who don't have the products in hand and that in and of itself doesn't make sense.

The 105 was shown for the first time less than 24 hours ago and conspiracy theorists are already hard at work trying to discredit something that they have zero knowledge of.

The same thing happened when the YS 120 was first announced, so we are all used to the negativity but all in all tired of it as well.

magic motor conspiracy is an interesting idea.

but, the very real practice of production products not living up to the dog and pony show prototype promises is not limited to model engines. i think that happens in every industry. no reason this would be any different.

i don't think this argument will be over until there are production models of both out in the wild.

if it ain't broke, break it.

Your right, If you look at an old clip of Youngblood when ask why his Cspec worked so much better than the ones frying he explains that it was a Special test unit in his words, but of course Fartin knows it all.

An "old clip" and the C-Spec was what 6-7 years ago?

Could it have been that Curtis simply modified his engine? Such as a cat-eye mod that many people did in order to produce better results? Curtis could have been testing his or his dad's mods to the engine based on his own style and experience.

Scott Gray used to offer the same service when him and his dad were modifying engines for people several years ago.

This was not a factory mod, this was something done by many others in their shops or at a funfly by Clintstone.

Someone saying they are running a "test" unit could mean any number of things and could be open for interpretation to a number of things.

No, "Fartin" doesn't know everything but I do know a few things.

DS8717, as for the title of the thread it does say ".... Uppercut" it doesn't say Knockout!

To me it simply implies that there is another entrant in the +1.00 market.

Also his motors were modified,he told me that himself at a fun fly.He flys for OS and he does whatever it takes to make the engine run the way he wants.....

He flys for OS and he does whatever it takes to make the engine run the way he wants....
Just like a guy who races for Ford, Chevy or Toyota will do every thing they can to squeeze every last bit of performance they can from the motors and products in which they are provided.

You guys are funny lol

I am running 30% Nitro... the same blend I have ran for the past 8 years. That was a stock motor in a stock OS box. Even had instructions with recommended needle settings. That was a pleasant surprise.

Got some flights on the 105 today and I'm still simply shocked with what OS has done with this motor.
