Got mine three weeks ago.. from flydan... Got it all set.

Thrid flight, the tail boom support came loose and was hanging down, to landed it. Still trying to get the engine tuned, and figuring out the head speed...

Is the blinging of the Kinetic 50 worth it? Like the head upgrade to metal and then i donno.. may be doing a ccpm mod.. is that all worth doing? or should I move on to a better frame with all this stock like trex 600n when I want .. ? or may be a raptor or something. I am learning 3D now.. pyro flips are a challenge and I am moving up.

I wanted to ask you about head speed. PLastic head all stock gears.. wooden blades, I know the head speed should be 1850-1900 MAX. So any idea on a OS50 hyper engine, shuld I run 100 percent on the end or end it somewhere lower like 80 percent or so.. ? I dont have a Tachometer, so wondering if someone would have an insight on this!

Thanks a lot y'all

a stock Kinetic 50 is capable of teaching you 3D (see the Hawk Pro clip),, as for buying a raptor, alltho the plastic Raptor is more popular I don't feel it's any better than a Raven or the 50nx,, the best advice I can give you is to buy a few Upgrades and stick with your Heli, learning all about it will get you the most out of yourself, moving from heli to heli will just eat at your pocket, not to say you will have to start over getting to know your new Heli,,

so as for what Upgrades (NOW), the Auto Unit is a must, 2nd the Metal/Plastic Main Rotor Head Yoke that comes stock on the Raven and 50NX
Paddles,, I'm not sure what Paddles came on your Kinetic, but if it came with the Hawk Paddles you will want the ones I listed, order them !!

Blades, you are ready for better Blades now, better Blades will be a big plus for you, if your going to order Upgrades you may as well order the Funkey 600's, they are as good as any Blades in their price range and better than many, so buy the Funkey's you will notice a big difference over the woodies,,

Head Speed,, as for Head Speed, do NOT run Wood Blades over 1800 !! !!, just buy the Funkeys, the Funkeys alone will put a smile on your face !! !!,,

Head Yoke (HI3160D),,

Funkey 600 (CNF6026),,

other Upgrades you will want in the future,,

Metal Clutch Bell (HI3010A),,

""shuld I run 100 percent on the end or end it somewhere lower like 80 percent or so.. ?""

I'm not sure what your asking here, but let me tell you, just buy a good Governor now and learn to use it, you will never regret it and you will always know what your Head Speed is,, I like the Multigov...

ok guys.. this is my first nitro heli.. or nitro anything..

I have a question about the fule pipeline going to the engine.

So, I have the align filter sitting in it. Even when the engine is on and going, there is an air bubble that sits there in the filter always.

I am not sure if that will really affect the working of the heli. I know, that when I pick my heli up in the air, the engine revs up (leans) , may also be because the air bubble moves up into the engine slowly.. I am not sure. any inputs on that. I went over my whole fuel line, and doubled the ends of the fuel lines, and got them tightly on the openings. Any inputs?

thanks

and these are the paddles I got with the kinetic... I htink THey looks the same, donno about the weight though..

if that Align Filter is inside the Tank I would just remove it and put in the Clunk that came with the Heli,,

as for the Engine revving up as you go into a hover that could be a few things, I would start by changing to the Clunk then if that doesn't work richening up the High Needle

also, are your Pitch and Throttle curves smooth ???

ohh no the filter is outside on the clunk line itself.

secondly.. by pick it up i mean when I pick it up with my hand with nose facing up in the air... thats when the engine goes lean..

""when I pick it up with my hand with nose facing up in the air... thats when the engine goes lean""

then first, richen it up 2, or 3 or 4 Clicks and see what that does,,

or it could be that the Clunck is touching the Back of the Tank,,

also you can just see what happens if you remove the Filter

tell me what you think about this?

I am not sure why, but the engine quit on me 100ft up in the air, coming out of a roll.. I had to auto it down.

I thought may be fuel was too low for it to be inverted. I fueled it .. took it up, and did a flip.. well it didnt quit right away, but sure did quit after a bit.

I leaned it I think a little to see how it'll do, but still it made a pinging sound I think, and engine died.. .

I am so confused.. I mean the idle sounds ok.. and then thr transition is sputtery.. but then it runs ok. then I lean the idle up, and it starts pinging on me. I am CONFUSED!

help!

once in a Hover and in Flight it's not Smoking much, I would richen up the High 3 or 4 Clicks and see what happens,, if you find after richening the High the transition is sputtering then Lean the Idle just a tiny bit

This is completely normal. You are going from having a fuel pickup level with the carb to one 10" below the carb, this will cause it to lean out.

However, it does look lean in the air. Are you running a header tank?

As far as upgrades, get the engine running right and buy lots of fuel and some carbon blades. I had a lot of time on two Hawks, it is amazing what they will do with the correct setup. After you are done with most of your crashing move on to something else. There is no real upgrade from a Kinetic to a Raptor, both are very capable but plastic machines.

I give up on Loctite, nothing lasts long enough to vibrate loose anymore.

In the clip, the motor sounds pretty lean to me, very lean to my ears. Motor cutting after a roll or loop is often caused by a in tank supply line being too long and not being able to move freely in all orientations. That could very likely be your problem. But Id say 1st off you are running lean. Make sure you have no air leaks, go to factory settings, richem up, fly-n-check, Fly-n-check, fly-n-check!
Those hawks/Raven/Kinetic are great air frames to use the Spektrum back plate sensors. But honestly I would not add that layer of complexity until you have the motor well sorted, tuned and happy.

Finally

Well... A month and a Christmas later.... Here's what I got...

Upgrades :::: metal head yoke, glass fiber blades, multigov pro, mp5 .50 muffler, auto rotation gear system, And a TREX 600n canopy..

This build was nice cause I knew what to do this time. It went together beautifully! Love it!

Canopy was retro fitted so so easily... Just a little more to do..like the pressure line and all.. But everything... Looks great!

Here it is.

Comments??

Ohh almost forgot ... A rebuilt engine too !
